Let's face it, in a game of abstracts Slow Fire really is a stupid rule. Slow Fire essentially equates to the weapon only firing once every 15 minutes - ludicrous. Can this rule be removed? |

[EDIT] I've removed my sarcastic comment. Not worth the hassle of reworking all the units with slow firing, and removes an option to limit big bang weapons IMO. |

In retrospect it would have been a more elegant system without it ![]() I don't mind it really when the unit is big and easily marked - say Manticores or warhounds. Where I really object is for things like plasma cannon on demolisher's - 2 separate slow fire weapons, very fiddly. Also sticking with plasma cannon surely they don't take 15 minutes to recharge? Replace a rack of 4 massive missiles on a battlefield - fair enough. But that? You could remove it though. Deal with it through a combination of stat changes and points increases. Something like manticores would go up in price (and as a fragile unit my word that would be awkward, then again maybe just accept them as 1bp?) and things like warhounds drop their to-hit? |

It's actually more like firing once every 30mins (shoot one turn takes 15mins then recharge/reload takes another 15mins - each turn = 15mins). I think we are stuck with it because it has always been in the rules and I don't really mind it on Titan weapons as a balancing mechanic. With that said, I really think that things like Plasma Weapons on Leman Russ' should have their to-hit values reduced (I think AP5+/AT5+ has been used?) and just shoot every turn. It's way too much mucking about on the smaller game minis. |

Quote: It's actually more like firing once every 30mins Or firing for a solid 15 minutes and then letting it cool down for the next 15 minutes so that it doesn't blow up. |

I agree dropping from Inf type units and as secondary weapons. Well mainly just all Plasma Cannons. Titan Plasma is fine with it, Manticores are fine with it, just Plasma Cannons are damn annoying with it. I mean Plasma Destroyer don't have it, why? |

That is a good way to explain the reason why Slow Firing exists (I like that explanation) but as far as the game goes, it's one shot in two turns and for things like Leman Russ Demolisher it's just a pain. |

I'm very much with TRC on this one; it's fine and appropriate for artillery or war engines, but for infantry or sponson weapons like Plasma Cannons it's too much micromanagement. Really Plasma Cannons are the only one I have a real problem with. |

OK so a compromise of infantry/tank weapons makes sense to me, and the big uns can keep it. |

Yeah, I'd go for dropping it from Plasma Cannons. |

I'm still for 30cm AP4+/AT6+ Plasma Cannons. |

I don't think you can go that far bl - you would presumably want to change plasma guns as well? |

I'm totally in favor of limiting new uses (especially instances where there will be lots of bookkeeping) but I don't see a reason to go back and remove it. It's not just lots of work, but it's diverging increasingly from the "core" rules. |

The_Real_Chris wrote: I don't think you can go that far bl - you would presumably want to change plasma guns as well? Well all plasma based weapons ahve the exact same* statistiks in Wh40k. Only the range and modus of firing (Pistol, Rapidfire, Heavy 1-3 with or without Blast template, etc) is different. And all have the "Gets Hot!" rule.* *Only war engine grade plasma weapons are different. *again wear engine grade plasma weapons AND the Leman Russ Executioner's Executioner Plasma Cannon don't have this. |
