Post subject:  The proposed Net-EA list compendium

For quite some time now we've been calling for the net-ERC to put together a compendium of the latest rules updates, and the latest versions of the net-ERC lists.

The current situation is that lists are spread around in their own threads, with many having been lost in the site crash. This is simply not good enough, as even experienced players find it difficult to keep track of what lists are current, and what lists are ERC recommended etc. New players have no chance at all of even knowing what the net-ERC is, let alone where to find the relevant lists.

Hence the idea of a single, collated document on its own website, which states in a clear and user-friendly way that these are the net-ERC recommended rules for Epic, along with the latest lists from under the net-ERC umbrella. The site would also explain what the net-ERC is, its aims, who is on it, who the army champions are.

This needs to happen, and quickly, else the net-ERC will become meaningless. Already Epic is splintering into regional groups, and this process will continue the more people become dissatisfied with the current lack of any appreciable system.

Epic-UK has a simple, one-stop website that clearly sets out their goals, and a user-friendly way to access the lists. We need to have the same. A wehsite explaining the net-ERC, and a collated army-list document or even just a list of the approved/experimental lists under the net-ERC banner; without these the net-ERC is effectively nothing.

Like the Compendium?

Like the Compendium, except consisting of the latest versions of only those lists being developed under the net-ERC banner, regularly updated and (most importantly) set out on a clear, dedicated website.

Erik: yes, like the compendium but with a website prescence; something more tangible and more easily mainteaned that new and existing players alike can interact with on a more 'solid' basis.

Zombocom makes a valid and worthwhile point that may well help to further cement and increase the togetherness and efficiency of Epic's online prescence; i'd happily help in anyway i could.

I strongly agree! As I've said many times before this should be the top priority for the NET-ERC and should have been done years ago.

How long does it actually take to design a nice looking but simple website, with a downloadable army book plugging the existing lists together? What's taking so long?

I appreciate we're all doing this in our free time but it still seems like something that could be collated and set up in a few weeks of initial effort for the person(s) doing so. As is months and months and months are dragging on with no signs of progress and an ever increasing tally of people expressing their frustration and confusion, particularly dishearteningly those commenting they / their playgroups / people they were thinking about introducing have been put off using or playtesting Net-EA or perhaps playing Epic generally. While for those that have commented it's likely there are many times more silent newbies or casual viewers who have been put off or never given us more than a brief look but never posted.

Loads of love, care, enthusiasm and time has been given by so many to developing lists over the years, but the organising and marketing of them is shockingly atrocious and makes all that worth less, being less available and less appreciated by people :-(

Please get this sorted and for cruks sake quickly!

I fifth the call for a Net-EA website to be set up ASAP, and for the Net-EA army list book to be uploaded to the aforesaid site, again ASAP.

What's the point in netERC if it doesn't change/update rules?

Anyhow, ONE place to find EA is the first thing I asked about when finding this place.

Previously Marconz and now Hojyn give us just that.
And as for now... Go Hojyn, Go!

What's the point in netERC if it doesn't change/update rules?

The NetERC/NetEA project is primarily concerned with developing and testing new armies; reviewing/changing the core rules of EPIC: Armageddon is more of a secondary concern, and an area of development we tread quite lightly in.

Those two "branches" are distinctly different areas and that division seems to run across all the various Epic "groups".

The NetERC has been endeavouring to get updated rulebook .pdfs posted to the GW Specialist Games Resources site for more months than I care to think of.  GW *has* the updated files, including the Chaos army lists, but regional complaints within the company over translations and just plain lack of manpower for anything non-core game have made it an extremely frustrating experience.

God specific chaos lists! Off Course!
And Chimera transports for Stormtroopers.
And obligatory examples of what models for what troops in fan army lists.
Tau! What about Fearless and Expendable gun drones?  :peace:

But I don't quite get how the rule book get updated if there's no changes...?
Sorry to ramble on. But the word is that "we" are free to work. But then there... Damn, down that rut again. Sorry.

Here we have something.
Is it possible to present that document elsewhere, in wait for SG publishing it?
It would be nice to read it...
