In the 2010 compendium Alaitoc had a special note allowing rangers to ride in Falcons.

In the reference/stat sheets, what order are the units in? I have trouble finding things. I know it was GW’s decision not to use alphabetical order so I can understand sticking with it, but I always feel lost in those lists.

ditto!

They're broken down by unit type (Character, Infantry, Light Vehicle, Armored Vehicle, War Engine, Aircraft, Spacecraft) and then alphabetically within those classes.

oh yeah...

I wish there was some ort of description of what the units are. Often if they dont have a 28mm 40k version i dont know what they are supposed to be. I had no idea what a chaos decimator was until the fw one was released, and I consider myself well versed in 40k lore. I like the section of the epic uk books that shows what each unit actually looks like, but I realise that's a lot of page real estate for such a list heavy book. It's also, I assume, not the intention of the book, which is pure rules. Maybe a forum thread with a short description and photo for each unit (or an epic unit wiki?)

actually, the old epic chaos decimator and the new forgeworld ones are completely different.
(one is a super heavy tank, think an archaic baneblade whilst the other is a halfway house between chaos knight and dreadnought)

Typically speaking - each approved list is available as a document similar to the rulebook - so each entry has a little pic, the rules and a brief piece of fluff fleshing out the unit. The compendium is more like a rules summary collection, intended mostly for looking stuff up quickly. It's assumed you know what the units are.

Ah thanks Maddoctor! Actually, that illustrates what I mean even more.

I've been able to find epic uk booklets with pictures which I've used to find out what something is, but the E:UK and netEA lists don't always match up. I've never managed to find the original netEA documents that the compendium came from, are they on the tactical command website somewhere?

Adding such info to the compendium would dilute its purpose, but I still think a second 'know thy enemy' document or user contributed wiki may be usefull as an addition to save going through all the individual documents and to stop me making mistakes like I did with the decimator.

well, the old decimator never actually had an official model. each of the army dev sections on the forum (near the bottom) should have the latest lists for each race. Those that are still experimental or in development won't have pictures yet, but if you ask around pretty much anything can be explained.

In the minervans tank legion army reference the valkyrie is missing.

And also in Steel Legion the Stats for Lunar and Emperor.
