Based on that, I think the focus for a NetERC effort needs to be on tweaking the army lists and getting the in-process lists "finalized" for our purposes.  I think the most productive way to do that will be to start from the official lists and review the pending changes with a new minimalist view (sorry to the fans of the Eldar v1.8, but I don't think it's viable at this point).

I agree completely with this. ?It's been a battle to get the guys I play with to test all the stuff I've wanted to try out. ?It's wearying to keep up with it, and it causes misunderstandings during play. ?I see the official changes as a great thing, simply for the fact that there is a sense of closure.

This is why I like tournaments so much and would advise as many as possible to take part in them. Over the past couple of years as we have tested different versions, the tournament scene has stayed relatively stable allowing me to enjoy the game in a know condition without strange changes. However I can then playtest changes at home.

The links on the FAQ & Errata web page are fixed and the files have been updated with the corrections discussed (WS Warhounds, flakwagons, 2.2.6 wording).

One word... Playtest. Playtest, men (and women... ha!), like your lives depend on it!  :D

Seriously, we need to get a handle on how the unchanged rules are working, how the changed rules are working, and we specifically need as much playtest of the 'almost ready' unofficial force lists as possible. If we are going to gather as much support from the general community as possible, we need to prove that we are able to get things done, and done well. This means advancing the lists, and this cant be done without play experience. We need as many 'real world' experiences as possible.

What we dont need, is changes right now. We need to compile a list of 'contentious items' before we actually address them.

We now have a solid rules set to work from.

So now look at the existing official lists and work out a list of minimal changes for them. Test these. Produce one PDF with the tested minimalist changes on 'Community approved changes' or whatever.

Then with the official lists reviewed/altered as much as is possible move on to the 'experimental' lists.

2 types - variant lists eg other craftworlds, scions etc, put any changes agreed in the first stage into these and test them. Anybody who isn't willing to adopt the 'community approved changes' pdf isn't going to adopt these either so it doesn't really matter if they directly match the 'official' lists just that they tie in with the minimally reviewed lists.

Other races - Tau,nids etc. Set deadlines for these - the overall rules are set now so the foundation is there for testing. At the moment debate in a number of lists seems to keep just going round in an endless circle.

There is no reason why by the end of 2008 all the lists can't be community approved as finished.

Hi guys
Was away for quite some time, now I'm back.

I finally printed out the new Errata and FAQ and I've been reading it today.

I didn't read the whole thread but I found two questions that contradict itself, the first and the last Skimmer-question. Also the last question has the complete opposite answer to the one it had in the "old" Skimmer-FAQ (it said "may not pop-up" there).

Is there a typo somewhere or what is it?

As for the files, it's strange that they are not on the new Epic resources page (yes I know, Chaos lists aren't there either).

Yes, it's a mistake.  Popping up counts as movement, with OW being an explicit exception.  You can't do it on a Hold action with a Fire option or on Sustain.

As far as the missing files, I emailed Andy to make sure he was aware.  The revised US site is still being worked on and correcting the Epic files is on the list.  It's just a low priority.
