I have to agree with this general complaint. Although it would be a little onerous, is there any merit in putting up a single, locked thread containing links to the entire EPIC ARMAGEDDON body of work? I am thinking of a brief summary of intent and then links to

  • The official rules and lists (SG site)
  • The latest "Compendium" work (the Handbook, and/or Hojyn's work)
  • Any regional sites (EPIC-UK, EPIC-FR etc)
  • The latest 'experimental' lists under development here

This thread should not be very large and (apart from the SG site) each page that is linked to should carry a sentence summarising the content and any caveats and update date.

This way any newcommer has a single point of reference to the latest stuff, while we debate and improve the content behind the scenes in the other threads and locations

Not a thread Ginger, a page. With some sort of uploadability. IMO.

C&Z ~ It might look like that. Usually this is because such as answers zoom in on a tiny fraction and I don't stop that fractioning in time. Or can't because it takes over.
(March and objectives as an example.)
My concern is now, and has always been, a stable base to present Epic from.
That doesn't conflict with my desire to make the rules better. IMO.

I'd like to second my hearty approval of fortis' post.

NetERC's lacks a communication strategy.  It should be something like this:

1.  Register www.neterc.com
2.  Upload a simple page with outlines the NetERC aims
3.  Use it as a central reference point for what it does and doesn't do

It's cheap as free (well, the domain costs a a few quid to register), requires only remedial web skills (available in abundance) and would give them a lot more credibility.  And voila, there's a stable base to present work and focus effort around.

Totally agree and suggested something similar several months ago.

Yes, the main reason why I still use the Handbook is because it is convenient, and all the material that is needed is in one place.

Coming to Epic EA having still been playing the old Space Marine system up until last year, the biggest problem was trying to understand all of the different rules revisions that were floating around all over the place, and in the end, I decided it was information overload, so even though the 2008 Handbook contains a lot of rules which were not accepted by everybody, I still use it because it's so much easier to follow.

I admire all the work that all the members of the NetERC put in, it would just be so much easier if it could all be accessed in one volume, so I would be very supportive of any attempt to consolidate all the material into one place, or into one rules and one army list volume.

I admit it's somewhat surprising that I'm in an absolute minority of people who didn't have much trouble navigating the - admittedly a tad byzantine - rules structure of Rulebook + Errata/FAQ + supplements like Swordwind or Raiders + NetEA mods + NetEA experimental army lists. But then again, for instance I not only didn't start using Handbook, I couldn't tell you where to even get it if you asked me, so I might have just been lucky there :))
