It's actually a valid tactic against Dark Eldar with infantry in LV Raiders in the webway; put both your objectives in buildings in the opponent's half and he'll be forced to use the Blitz as his portal, since his vehicles won't be able to enter the buildings.

Meph: A skimmer won't always start or end on the ground. They could go on OW, popped up.

True, which is why the wording it start and end of their activation. When on OW you activation doesn't end until you take your shot, thus allowing you to stay in the air.

On a pedantic note, it might be worth noting that "popping up" is deemed to be movement, and so a Skimmer (eg a Cobra) that starts in DT and goes on OW would presumably take a DT test to go on OW, and take a second DT test after it uses the OW shot and "pops down" again.

However, should the skimmer go into the next turn on OW and then activate to move elsewhere, it would not take a DT test as it is not starting it's move *in* the terrain.

On a related note, it might also be worth noting that a skimmer may potentially engage over DT without taking any DT tests at all!. It "pops up" before the engagement move takes it over the DT, only "popping down" after the consolidation / withdrawal move that potentially moves it clear of the DT.
