People I know who are regular Tourney players:

- Rug
- Mephiston
- Tiny-Tim
- yme-loc (?)
- Braveheart (Uk tourney organiser)

Possibly some others too ; It's perhaps worth PM'ing them for their opinions and for further contacts, as many tourney players don't stray too far from the tourney sub-forum. :)

Sorry to jump in so late here, but while I appreciate that some lists need fixing, that new lists need making etc., I can't help feeling that tournaments should only use the stuff available for download from GW. Otherwise, how will new players get involved? and how will we avoid the regional fragmentation that is already occuring?
I'm really worried that we are ending up with a situation here where E:A is being played in a hundred different ways. Now that's fine at home, or in your local club, but for national / international tournaments it's a disaster.

The only solutions I see is either to leave everything alone, and accept that we have a limited number of armies available, or try and establish some kind of website with 'tournament' rules and lists on it, that will function as a resource for all epic tournaments. But that could well fall foul of GW's IP hunters, and would anyway likely just lead to more disagreement, and people setting up their own versions instead.

Maybe I'm just depressed today, but I really am struggling to see a way forward here.
Regards,
Reaver

Matt O wants to do that late in the year, after having conducted a rules review, etc.

And why couldn't Tac Comms be that international site? Players from all communities post here and there is a link from the specialist games site.

TacComms would need a clear and easy-to-approach annex website for the Tournament rules ; I don't know why it couldn't be here, but Matt seemed clear that he wants to set up his own site for his tournaments, with his own rules review comittee etc.

Presumably he wants control over his own tournaments, which is not a terrible thing to want. :D

This is where my problem starts - once again, it's fragmentation of the E:A community.

Mephiston suggests TacComms - and a lot of us would agree. But Matt Otter wants control over 'his' tournaments.

So we end up with different people doing different things.

This only way to have agreement is to only use what is available officially from GW. Yes, this limits the game, yes, some lists will suffer. But it is the only way I see to keep any unity in the community.

Reaver

fragmentation

I agree that's a really poor idea, and I'd like to see some sort of community consensus reached.

I'd much rather do the work once than multiple times myself. Thats why I favour using Tac Comms.

I fully understand Matt's position and if thats how he wants to progress it its his decision to take.

Matt has stated that he won't be doing anything until late this year at the earliest.

I'll be doing my best to try and sell him on using a wider community for any reviews.

However as Matt organises and runs the majority of the tournaments, doing a fantastic job too, he has the final decision.

I think Matt doesn't care till his dissertation is done, and really everyone should cool off and drop it until then!

And why aren't I a tournie person? :(

I think what you say here is extremely correct.
You've jumped in late here but we've said this much earlier on somewhere

Tournament organisers must be very careful to use any changes and advertise them VERY loudly.
Changes should be very few in number.

This is what the folks here are trying to achieve - A simple package for tournament organisers to use.

Ideally, for national tournaments, we should play with the rules as published by GW as you say, for the sake of consistancy and clarity. However there is pressure to adopt changes even though GW won't.

Indeed, seeing as the proposed changes are VERY minimal (nealhunt has taken efforts to make sure they are and ensure champions really trim thinks) I think they COULD be adopted by GW and bunged in the Epic LRB.  A huge load of changes would be sure to put Jervis off. A few changes stand a better chance (in my opinion, every effort should be made to convince him)

You've been outta the country for a while so you're on probation until your full tourney license is returned. :D
