An interesting point, is that limit on how many infantry can claim cover from a vehicle or WE was left out of Neal's change documents. But I think it is such a massively accepted house rule that it was probably just overlooked. Has anyone ever contested that this makes sense and should be used? (2 infantry per AV or point of DC of an WE).

If you read further on the same SG thread, I also brought up the question of WE transports being able to hold more troops than they can apparently give cover (again an old chestnut that is raised every now and then). The suggestion here was to include the transport limit as part of the "gives cover" definition.
There is another minor thought, can Fearless infantry in B-B with an enemy AV/WE/Titan gain cover? A strict RAW interpretation would suggest they can, but it might be nice to gain consensus and possibly a FAQ.
Lastly, there is the related issue of whether you can put units into B-B with an enemy AV/WE/Titan which also has friends in B-B. The general consensus is that this should be possible, but again possibly could be an FAQ.

With regards to the earlier comments, part of the debate arises from being able to see/shoot 10cms into terrain which may be only 15cms (or less) thick. More significantly, infantry with skimmer (jetbikes etc) by definition find woods / buildings "dangerous", but arguably should gain 'cover' from touching the terrain as per E&C House rule. AVs are moot, but I would agree that anything larger should not benefit. Perhaps it would clarify things if the wording was revised to read as follows:-
1.8.2 Cover To Hit Modifiers
Infantry that is touching, or units that are in terrain that is tall enough to at least partially obscure them from an attacker?s view receive a -1 to hit modifier when being shot at (see 1.9.5). The to hit modifier also applies if intervening terrain obscures the target partially from view.

I was thinking of infantry that remained in contact post-assault for some reason, but this is an intruiging thought and not one I have seen used. Has anyone else played this??

I don't think that I would ever dare claim cover from an enemy tank when facing overwatch fire.

The finalised version of the Handbook is now released.

I removed the 'touching terrain' clause as it was inconsistent with Neal's change documents, and needs more discussion.

I decided not to reorder the sections (sorry Chroma!), as I ultimately aim to start work on a supplement which will include White Scars in addition to several other Marine Chapters (so White Scars will eventually be removed from this Handbook) and only the core codex list will remain. However, for now this document should be fairly clean and useful. Development to continue in this thread here:
