Markconz,

Sorry to change the subject but are you planning to introduce the Flame template rules into the Alpha Handbook. If it is likely to feature in the Nids, ATML and Chaos then it probably should go in.
Plus it cuts down the Special Rules needed in the Nids list.

The debate on the SG boards does not appear to have reached a conclusion though some ideas have been presented there

Ginger, that answer is that you don't have to activate a formation with OW. You can keep it and are not forced to activate it (and keep the OW). However if you have stopped taking activations, you cannot then later try to activate the OW formation.

Hena, I do not think that you are right here, at least according to the thread on the SG boards.

1.6.1 states that all formations must activate - no exception, and they may only activate once per turn. OW can be thought of as a delayed action - in this case passed on to the following turn. So it the formation shoots, it cannot do anything else.

However 1.6.1 forces it to do something - so if it is the last formation to activate, the player must declare an action and pass an activation test as usual even it that action is to go on OW again.

I agree entirely with your interpretation of the rules, it is definetly stated that all formations must take an action.

Its just strange that almost every one plays that overwatch can go on indefinetly.

I always thought it would have been nice if in the overwatch section it was stated categorically one way or the other.

Re: Overwatch & CAP - I will go with Neal's answer unless I hear differently. But I would like this sorted and clear.

Re: Flame Template - yes I think this should be stuck this in the main rules.

MW Barrages:  It's not the ERC that came up with it.  It was Jervis.  It's been debated repeatedly, so everyone is aware of the points and counterpoints.  In the end the ERC voted (one of the few issues that's actually been formalized).  It was unanimous to implement the MW-AP to hit despite the enduring controversy.

Flame Template:  I think it is good to have it in the main rules.  It is used in the BL/L&D lists and it will be used in the Nid list.  Pretty much anything that crosses multiple lists should be in the main rules, imho.

OW/CAP:  I think this is in need of being looked at.  People have obviously been treating it in several different ways and none have complained about any game balance.  That makes me think that it is feasible either way and we just need to make a call.

Just an update on the army list doc...

I've got the bulk of it done.  I'm still mulling over the Ork changes (as you can no doubt tell from the several threads I just started on various topics).

I tried to get both the core rules and the army list docs done before the semester started but I didn't quite make it.  The army list has slowed as a result, but I will get it pounded out in the next week or two (depending mostly on the kind/volume of feedback I get on the ork stuff).

Looking at the original rulebook, IG Commissars do not have an Invulnerable save... typo or change?

another one: in the Swordwind book, Squiggoths are listed as having 2x twin big shootas, not only one.

edit - all Eldar Titans also lack Reinforced Armour

Nice work markconz. :D

Now I have (finally) quick read rules, because we planned to use them on our next game. That titan killer weapons hit allocation make me think? Maybe it should be optional to choose WE as target or shoot normally from front to rear. As it previously were IIRC.

But anyway we are testing them and surely comment afterwards.

Thanks for your work. :)

Marconz,

Sorry I might have missed something. In an earlier draft of the handbook the planetfall section finished with 4.4.1 Drop pods and 4.4.2 Planetfall aircraft. However in the last edition these two sections are missing and replaced with 4.4.1 Free planetfall.

Am I correct in assuming that the rules for free planetfall now replace the drop pods and planetfall aircraft rules ?
