I'm sorry but it's hard to not argue that B is not the defacto standard as there's other games that do that as well. The preponderance of tradition, for lack of a better phrase, should be considered here. At the risk of sounding like an asshole, I'm pretty sure B is used just about everywhere
but France.

The exact gaming purpose of B for Epic is precisely it is a smaller area reflecting a higher SR army's ability to catch the opponent off guard, unprepared, or some other type of outmaneuvered circumstance.
