I'd still like an example of one of these clipping assaults so we can see what's going on. If you can.

And get a wider shot of the battlefield too to show the larger tactical picture.

Like everyone said, explain it, play as friendly as possible when teaching and it shouldn't be a problem.

Another defense is to keep a unit or two mounted in transport. Transport vehicles can counter-charge 10cm, which is sometimes enough to get units in range to fire back. Many times the vehicles have better saves so getting them out front not only increases firepower but decreases kills. Troops can then dismount another 5cm, for a 15cm total counter-charge. That's pretty much almost always going get them in range and may be enough for them to reach base contact. Even if it doesn't tip the balance to a win, it will help.

As an example, it's not uncommon for a mechanized IG formation to keep 1-2 Ogryn mounted in their Chimeras in the middle of the formation. If someone tries to clip that formation, not only are they facing decent FF5+ IG, but the Ogryn can charge out in front. Even if the Ogryn don't reach CC, the first hits go on the Ogryn's very good armor saves.

Marines are questionable because Rhinos are so fragile, but pretty much any other mech formation should strongly consider keeping a mounted reserve.

Ill try to get as much info as possible. i thought only things that can move 30+cm gets a 10cm counter charge? ill have to go check the movement rates of some transports... but that dose sound like it would work.

Most transports are 30cm, including the Rhino and Chimaera. Even slower transports can make 5cm countercharge + 5cm dismounts, though. This means that 30cm+ transports can move their troops up to 15cm in response to an Engagement.
