I also gave a copy of the Handbook to the NetERC to update if they wanted, but nothing seems to have come of that at the current time.

Actually, we've got a copy of the Epic Rulebook completely updated with errata and corrections, based on the original GW files... we're just waiting on permission from Jervis/GW to actually be able to post/host their copywrited document or whether they want to replace the "old" files on the GW website.

And, as people may know, dealing with GW can be... slow...

As an update, Jervis has confirmed that he has a copy of the rulebook with the 2008 errata and FAQs integrated into it.  We're waiting on his review.

As Chroma pointed out, it's been very slow but it is progressing.

I'm a little confused. I own a copy of the E:A book. Are the rules that are available online exactly like those in the book or have they been modified at all?

The one that is currently being submitted to Jervis would integrate the Errata into rulebook. Thus it would not be exactly like the rulebook being sold as some bits of it have been changed to be rules in errata.

Quick update:

Jervis stated in an email that he does want to host the integrated book on the GW website.  He provided some editorial comments and the team (mostly Hena, with Chroma's help) are working to get it up to snuff.  Once we have it in what we think is the final condition, we will send it to him to post.

Many thanks, NetERC.  Glad to see it is moving along.  IMO Jervis does the best he can to help us.

Well I disagree. For the past two years when GW bothered to host a tournament for specialist games Rick Priestly turned up both days, both years to talk to the warmaster players. This was warmaster, not ancients, so a similarly unsupported GW game. Jervis was never to be seen. If he cared about supporting SG players I'd have thought he would have shown his face at least once.

This year is moot as there will be no GW supported SG event in the UK, as they are not providing any direct support to SG games.

Jervis was at the Games Day tournament last year in MD. Mosc. has the photos to prove it.

We don't have Jervis' schedule and at the end of the day this is his job.  Having finally met the man last year face-to-face we got to talk undisturbed for about ten minutes (that is apparently a long time at an event like Games Day).  There was nothing about him that indicated anything but a love for the game of Epic and a desire to see it succeed.  It was quite apparent that he was pulled away from it by higher powers.

He checked out the Epic tournament, discussed the future of the hobby, thumbed through his copy of Raiders quite a bit (we surprised him with that I suppose more than anything), and posed for pictures.

My guess is that he probably had other commitments those two times.  Or was sick.  Or had family things to take care of.  Or any number of other things.  Could be anything but my point was that he supported us and I can't imagine it was just U.S. Epic folk he wanted to assist.  Keep heart!

EDIT
This year is moot as there will be no GW supported SG event in the UK, as they are not providing any direct support to SG games.

No direct support, but they would probably let you run an Epic tournament at the events like we did.  We had great support!  Prize money, giveaways, tablespace, trophies.  The only thing they didn't give us was staff to run the event.

Sorry, I've given up on GW. They can't even get the chaos list posted! Its up to the fans to keep epic going IMO and we will.

They can't do it now.  It doesn't mean they will never be able to do it.  The impression I got from all of the GW staff is they LOVE Epic but the decisions are made from people way up high.

I can imagine that if they survive the downturn and business picks up again, they will look at supporting Epic again.  It seems to come back over and over.  But in the mean time we pick up the torch and light the way for our 6mm mini's to do battle.  It's a geeky jobbut somebody has to do it.

Mephiston, what's the difference between you giving up on GW and keeping Epic going on your own, or you working with GW and seeing what support they CAN give you?  At a worst case scenario they say they can do nothing.  Best case you get what we got, which wasn't so bad.

GW are doing all they will to support epic in the UK. Nothing. Same as they have done for the past 2 years. It's great that you are getting support in the US, and many stores actively promote SG too as the staff enjoy playing them.

Do I need GW support? No, not really. Epic UK will keep the tournament circuit going without them and all the individual groups will keep the game alive.

Again Rick Priestly remains active on warmaster forums, Jervis does not. Feel free to draw your own conclusion.

I understand your sentiment. I've given up on GW too, but I refuse to give up on Epic or let GW dictate my desire to keep playing Epic. I kept playing epic between editions and was rewarded with GW releasing E:A and I'll keep playing Epic long after GW stops supporting.
