It was good that some rules were dated as official. But for example many eldar 1.8 rules are excellent as are many others too. Personally I'm not too happy, but still my armies are fully playable. :)

Amen.

I'm fine with the minimalist Eldar changes. Some of the other suggested changes would have been nice to have but the most pressing things were taken care of, Spirit Stones and Pulse.

Will the main books be updated to reflect these changes?

Phil

There is no way I'm gonna use Quake Cannons if they are Slow Firing...

I don't know about NetEA but I can definately see myself coming up with some house rules to make this game fun (mostly addopting rules that members here have already come up with).

There are Quake Cannons mentioned in the Errata?

Yup, changed the counts-as Quake cannon to be slow firing.

Me, I just set it as more expensive than the other guns rather than nerfing it down to their level, but I guess that's just a different ethos at work... :D

Now everyone is forced to decide - do I stick with the OFFICIAL changes or do I go with something a little more progressive (possibly changes made by NetEA)? ?There is no more sitting on the fence for anyone.
Well I for one don't think we are quite there yet. However, I would agree with you if ever GW / SG or their representatives refused to endorse a list of proposed changes that is widely accepted by the community as a whole. As things stand right now, JJ and Andy have reviewed the rules accepted the vast majority, and seem prepared to publish these changes. (The army lists are a different matter). Providing they can be pursuaded to review and publish changes to the various army lists, I still believe that this would be the best route.

Right now, I feel that it is imperative that we do all we can to gather as much of the community together to support the development of agreed work which can be presented as such for publication.

Sorry Ginger but I really don't think there will be any other changes. Jervis says the EA rules are finalised, and SG will not be publishing any further changes. He really doesn't want to be bothered by it any further I imagine.

Personally I foresee myself going 'French'. I reckon my group will continue playing Handbook 2008, so I will too. At least until the new NetERC come up with an addition to the Jervis amendments that is substantially better.  The Jervis changes have thrown out practically every army list tweak, not just controversial items, but basically everything. Had he weeded them as opposed to just gutting the whole lot, my view would be different.

Ah well, better than nothing I suppose. At least we know where we stand at long last.

Well then I really hope that Finland sticks to Neal's changedoc and any further updates defined here - was that called NetEA or whatever. I really do not care that much if I play "by the book" or "by the defined set of changed rules" as long as the rules used are better version and my opponents are happy with them too :]

It would've been better if Jervis had just shut up. This will merely slow down the birth of a widely accepted NetEpicA. If GW had wanted to disrupt the community, this is what they would've done.

Screw GW. They won't support the game. Even something as dumb as the stuff E&C keeps putting out is better than GW "support" :D

Neal Hunt, CyberShadow and the rest, please proceed with your work!

I just hope they get a single rulebook to download as well and I'm happy with the changes.

The best thing that could follow this is that the core rules would freeze as it sucks to play in a tournament where moving, shooting and assaults work differently from game to game, and people would make their own lists with units and all (no matter if different lists have same units with different stats as long there's reference sheets) and then they'd be played without constant bickering about "that's not official blah blah" as most lists aren't going to be official anyway. I couldn't care less if "Tom's" list has MW on vindicator and "Hank's" list has lower cost without MW as long as the lists are fun to play with for both sides. Everyone has different views of things but it's just a horrible waste of time to spend months or years to fine tune some stinking gun and try to come up with some standard for it that half of the twelve epic players worldwide won't agree upon anyway.

I could've lived with the rules before the errata and I can live with them after the errata, and as a friend told me a while back, it makes no difference what army lists are used in tournaments if you play in them once or twice in a year..

For those of us who play once or twice a week, we'd rather the damn game were fixed! :D
