Thanks, everybody. No squats or superheavies but the day was relatively peaceful and that is something I nowadays value very much.I'm afraid the translator didn't quite get it. "Iloinen" is "happy" all right but "alku" is "beginning" rather than "birthday". Birthday = syntym?p?iv?. But things are not quite that easy; you can't just say "iloinen syntym?p?iv?" as that would be talking in the Hollywood Indian mode (me great warrior). Correct form would be "Iloista syntym?p?iv??". Although we usually say "hyv?? syntym?p?iv??" which translates roughly to "have a good birthday". Easy, eh?

I should've asked yopu to translate rather than trust those thingies ... Anyway, hyv?? syntym?p?iv?? then Good old copy and paste, hope I pronounced it correctly. Although 'happy beginnings' doesn't sound too bad either - could've been worse, anyway! |
