Just a quickie before I commit my orders. I've seen that the FW aeronautica imperialis models are somewhat larger than their GW counterparts and bearing this in mind I want to ask the groups opinion of which to get.
Are the FW models *that* much larger? I have no Epic stuff at the moment so I don't need to worry about maintaining any sort of aesthetic with them. They look a bit nicer but are they worth (in your opinion) the 50% increase in cost over the GW stuff? I'm making an order with both for my IG army anyway, currently the only vehicles that are not to be FW are the Valkyries. Should I just bite and order the FW ones?

In my humble opinion, the Vulture models from Forgeworld are definitely worth the extra cost... as are their Valkyries.

I'm cheap - least cost wins!

*lol* FW Valkyries it is then. The money would only go on spirits or food. My liver could probably do with the break and losing a few lbs isn't going to kill me. So, orders placed, infantry and sentinels should be with me on Tuesday and the vehicles some time after that depending on how "busy" FW are with these upcoming events. (Thought that they'd all passed, but ah well) Will be breaking out the paints very soon, just need to settle on a scheme.

I'd vote SG just because FW quality is so varied and for OS buyers they suck.

Well, being UK based will certainly help on that one. Not only that but I'm quite a demanding person anyway, if the quality sucks they'll be getting it back for a decent replacement. I'll also be after a refund on my postage expense in returning it. Now, if I could buy these specialist games items (and FW) stuff in store that would be different but since non-GW stores can't order SG stuff or FW product and there isn't a GW store within reasonable distance (closest is approx 70 miles away) it is their choice for me to purchase via mail order/online not mine....

But anyway, still grinning after the 5 hours of intro type games we played yesterday. E:A is go in Cardigan!

I'm pro-FW as well. Their models look just great and being more accuratly 6mm scale also helps. I HATE undersized models.

Too bad you can't get them without credit card :-(

Don't worry about casting quality... if the cast is a bad one, ring FW and they'll replace it with a good one free of charge, and normally won't ask for the originals back either.

Their customer service is the best in the business, bar none.

Yes it is excellent - if I'm unsure about a casting I'll catch them at a show (once two years after purchase) and they will if its no intentional replace it on the spot!

That's always reassuring to know. I have to admit that I've only had one piece of FW stuff that wasn't acceptable and that was years ago. I ordered an Eldar 40k scale Scorpion Grav Tank and when it arrived they hadn't used enough resin to fill the mould properly and so a couple of the tips of the splines at the back were mis-cast. I asked them if they could replace it if I returned it, which they agreed and also agreed to a voucher to cover the return postage. I wouldn't expect them to just send another one, it was the main hull of the thing anyway. Demanding, not unreasonable.
The one slightly scary thing is that I worked out how many infantry models will be turning up.... EEeeep! I'm trying very hard to think in terms of units and not individual models.... 150+ men per box is not good, 32 units is much more manageable.
