(firstly not sure if this is the right place, please move if it isnt, sorry) Hey guys, I'm very new to Epic. I started playing AI when it came out at the start of the year, got so hooked on it, I'm about to order some vehicles just to use to ground targets. Now I thought to myself, thats silly, I should use those models, so decided to get into Epic. Nobody in my club or local area player Epic, but we dont let silly things like that stop us now do we? ![]() ![]() I've read thru the EA rules I downloaded off the SG website, and have a vague understanding of the rules My 40k and AI forces are Eldar, so, naturally, I want to do Eldar for Epic. My 40k army is mainly Alaitoc, but I occalsionally play it as Biel Tan, I like both craftworlds. ? ![]() So using Army Builder I roughed up a 3000pt list, I'm wanting to use this as a guide of stuff to buy, so here we go: Epic Eldar3000 Pts ?- ? Eldar Army 1 Avatar @ 0 Pts 1 Eldar Guardian Warhost @ 375 Pts ? ? 1 Farseer ? ? 7 Guardians ? ? 3 Support Weapon Platform ? ? 3 Wraithlords 1 Aspect Warrior Warhost @ 500 Pts ? ? 2 Dire Avengers ? ? 2 Fire Dragons ? ? 2 Howling Banshees ? ? 2 Striking Scorpions ? ? 4 Wave Serpents 1 Ranger Troupe @ 150 Pts ? ? 6 Rangers 1 Ranger Troupe @ 125 Pts ? ? 5 Rangers 1 Engine of Vaul Troupe @ 500 Pts ? ? 2 Scorpion Super Heavy Grav Tank 1 Falcon Troupe @ 250 Pts ? ? 4 Falcon Grav Tank ? ? 1 Fire Storm Grav Tank 1 Fire Prism Troupe @ 250 Pts ? ? 3 Fire Prism Grav Tank ? ? 1 Falcon Troupe @ 250 Pts ? ? 4 Falcon Grav Tank ? ? 1 Fire Storm Grav Tank 1 Revenant Titan @ 600 Pts ? ? 2 Revenant Scout Titan ? ? ? ? ? Formations: 10 Total Units: 55 Total Army Cost: 3000 The plan would be to have the Guardian foramtion hang back and guard an objective and dish out the firepower. Generally have the wave serpents run up and pour out the Aspect Warriors to assault the enemy or claim objectives. Tanks will shoot stuff! (funny that ![]() Tians, just cause Titans are cool, and i cant afford 40k scale FW ones. Rangers are in there for theme, keeping it Alaitoc. Or could be dropped for more Aspect Warriors to make it more Biel Tan. As I play AI, I have a large number of aircraft that I can use too, so thats why the dont appear on this "shooping list". Is it good to have some aircraft? If so, what should I drop? I dont really understand Swooping Hawks. They have huge movement and can teleport, but can only really do either if they are in a formation of just Hawks? right? Its a bit different thinking when you have to have your DR/DAs tagging along with the Banshees and Scorps. urmm yeah, so if anyone has anything to say about this, would be mucho appreciato. P.S I also downloaded some Craftworld speciefic rules, but have no idea where from. hmm Are these kosha for just fan-rules? Also are there rules for the FW Wave Serpents armed with Bright Lance, Missile Launcher, Scatter Laser or Star Cannon? |

You are a bit light on AA. Aspects tend to work best as all of the same 'type'. Exarches are essential, suggest droping some ranger units to get them both. |

Also are there rules for the FW Wave Serpents armed with Bright Lance, Missile Launcher, Scatter Laser or Star Cannon? If I recall rightly, 'Pulsar' proposed some stats & points costs for the variant turrets on the Wave Serpents that looked pretty balanced. EDIT: Here it is: http://www.tacticalwargames.net/cgi-bin....=pulsar |

Cheers for all the feedback guys. @ The Real Chris - why are Exarchs a must have? I see they are Inpsiring. That only applies to the unit (stand?) they are in correct? Although +1 to result roll would be nice! @Hena - This was the basis for the Aspect troupe. 4 stands get into base to base and assault, the Banshees go frist, while the Scrops dish out even more punishment. While the other 4 stands support with good Fire Fight (Dires and Dragons). I went with Support Weapon Plaformts for the Guardians casue I love D-Cannons, plus same range as Heavy Weapon Plaform but MW5+ rather than AP5+/AT5+. If most people seem to go only 1 or 2 types of Aspect in a formation, I'll give that a go too. Was always kinda planning to add Nightwings, simply casue I already have the models. But am not sure what to drop to get them in. @Pulsar - I use Army Builder 2.0, now idea what version of the rules it is using. I see now that the Revenant pt cost is wrong compared to the Swordwind pdf. hmmm Those updated rules, are they offical or fan rules? I know SG operate a bit differently to GW core games, and I probably wont be entering into tournys (none here to enter!) but I like to know whats what with rules. I like the look of smaller Aspect troupes, only 4 stands rather than 8, and the revised tank formations. But why only 0-1 Aspects!!!!!!! Nice work on you Wave Serpent weapons options, but you dont seem to take into account the twin-linking? The stats seems the same as a single weapon? Or is that another difference between 40k and Epic? Has anyone got some Eldar lists for me to compare? |

Or is that another difference between 40k and Epic? Epic the diffrence between a normal weapon and a Twin-linked one is +1 but with those rules i try to make them blanced because they are only 5 points each wave serpent and i didn't want to make them to good and thus make them expensive(making Wave serpents more expensive, and they already cost alot ![]() |

Hi Izza, I don't think there is anything obviously terrrible about that list, except I would always take an Autarch with Eldar (or a supreme commander with any list in epic for that matter). Maybe try splitting the scorpions into two formations for added flexibility (though it means losing a little concentrated punch). I will be running Epic tournaments in Chch NZ either later this year or next depending on when rules revisions are finalised (or near to being done). Full revisions from the SG site including the proposed eldar amendments will be used, (and are already being used in games in Chch). |

Cheers guys. I'll play around with my list to add in the Exarchs and an Autarch, will problably drop the Scorpions and some rangers for some Aircraft and maybe more aspect warriors. Probably my only chance to play will be in Chch, so I'll build my army around the v1.8. Once I have a bit of an amy going, I might see if your up for a game, when I'm up in Chch, eh Mark? ![]() |
