Post subject:  Looking for Cardboard Minis to try out the game!

Hi there,

I am not very computer literate (hence the table top gaming). Ive always love GWs 40k universe and Epic has really caught my eye. However I am really short on money and cannot afford to buy an army for a game I haven't tried. I would love to try out a full game of epic, and was wondering if there was anywhere I could download cardboard minis, too see if I like it, and hold me over while I slowly replace them with real minis. I know the specialist games site has a few space marines, but not much, and nothing else. Where else can I get cardboard minis to try out epic ?

Thanks in Advance
Christopher

Where do you live mate?

Perhaps someone on the board is nearby and could actually introduce you to the game, minis and all!

Otherwise, I'm sure someone here can help you with cardboard proxies.

Didn't the SG main sit use to have paper proxies available for download? Or was that just back in the old playtest days? ???

There's the training scenario counters if that's what you were thinking of.

They're at the bottom.

Well... time permitting and the will being there I am probably going to try and make some counters for the other training scenarios in the Epic rulebook.

What you seem to be asking for is proxies for minis while you get a handle on the rules.  I did this when Warmaster first came out with a buddy to try it out and just cut my own card board for the units and then put a basic letter pairing so I knew what was what and a dot to show the front edge.

For Epic you could do something similar, but everything is more fun with the minis.

Somewhere about there should be cardboard minis for Necrons and Dark Eldar too, I'll see if I can find them, or maybe somebody else knows where they are.

I PM'd you as well.

Dark Eldar

Made 'em myself.  Follow the link above in this thread for the Necron ones.  I haven't seen any others past these two armies, but it doesn't mean they don't exist.

I'll keep my eyes peeled.  However, your best bet is to play with somebody else's mini's.  Many players are willing to bring two armies worth of models to introduce you to the game.
