yes been looking at off and on but not in a serious way, i'm going to wate a bit longer before i wade into that thread. ![]() the project i'm working on is set at the Siege of the Imperial Palace on Terra so i would need the Primarchs to be of that time frame. |

Hey Chaps. Yeah Pulsar and I (As well as several of our gaming group) are intending to run a big demonstration game of Epic at GW's 'Conflict London' event, and if it goes well we might run the game again at Games Day. The game will be 'the siege of the emperor's palace', with forces represented from the main armies that fought there. So we're looking at: Imperial Fists Blood Angels White Scars Death Guard World Eaters Iron Warriors Sons of Horus (The Black Legion) We were thinking about 3000pts of each faction, with a scattering of Titans on both sides. We were thinking that we'd have a big scenery piece representing the edge of the Emperor's palace. We were also thinking of making/finding a set of rules for the various Primarchs that fought in the battle, which'd be: Angron (Khornate Primarch) Mortarion (Nurgle Primarch) Preturbo (Iron Warriors Primarch, Undivided, I think he made himself into a big dreadnought rather than accept mutation??) Abbadon (As leader of the Sons of Horus' ground forces... Horus himself didn't fight on the ground). Rogal Dorn (Imperial Fists Primarch) Sanguinius (Blood Angels Primarch, he had wings) The KHAN! (White Scars Primarch, he apparently rode around on top of a Rhino APC as if it were a steppes pony???) Anyways, if anyone has any tips, pointers or ideas, we'd love to hear them. |

The game is also going to be a kind of intro thing to E.A. so we will be using the the army lists that you can get now, so that we can more people intersted in Epic and if it does well i hope that we could take it (or a bigger version of it ![]() ![]() |

I've been working on an Iron Warriors list for a little while taking bits and pieces from some previous IW attempts. I was holding off posting it until I had enough models painted up to properly try it out but if there is interest here I'll post what I've got tomorrow |

I was holding off posting it until I had enough models painted up to properly try it out but if there is interest here I'll post what I've got tomorrow I'd like to check out an Iron Warriors list... they're the only legion present at the siege that doesn't have an appropriate armylist available. |

I have been tinkering with this for a while and I'm to test it out over the next couple of months. The basic list is the Black Legion list which has been altered to better fit the Iron Warriors. The idea of the list is an assaulting IW force (such as in 'Storm of Iron and 'Dead Sky Black Sun') with large numbers of walkers assaulting followed by Vindicators and artillery. I had thought of doing an IW SHT variant but have stuck with the decimator for now and have stuck woth the BL titans for now. I have reduced the number of fast attack options - not really very IW, and removed the death wheel- solely BL unit. Also gone are the daemons. Added are increased availability of Obliterators, dreadnoughts and defilers - both IW staples, the standard CSM retinue is made more shooty, and various artillery formations. Initiative 1+ Strategy 5+ As with the Black Legion Character upgrades can only be applied to the Core units of a formation. One IW Lord Character must be upgraded to a Warsmith Character. This upgrade is free. Hey Steve54, just had a quick read of the list, here's my initial thoughts - at least, from a 'background' point of view (I can't comment on the playability of it as of yet). I myself am in the process of putting together an Iron Warriors army, and your ideas have tallied with my own in several ways... Good start - 'Storm of Iron' is great for IW background. The concept of a siege/assault force is perfect for IW - artillery a-go-go! ![]() In terms of an IW Siege SHT, might I be nepotistic and suggest this? It's a 'Super Baslisk' (in need of a more appropriate IW-type name ![]() Fast Attack - spot on. In my army, I'm not using any, but it's a matter of taste. No daemons: spot on also. I'd agree with Obliterators, Defilers etc. In fact, I've gone so far as to toy with using Obliterators in a stand alone detachment. This is in keeping witht he IW background that there are more Obliterators than in any other Traitor Legion; but they would be 0-1 to prevent Obliterator over-load type beardiness! IRON WARRIORS GRAND COMPANY 300 One IW Lord Character upgrade and 8 units - Six Chaos Space Marines And Two Havocs This is not far off what I've done; although mine is based more on the BL list, so I've got 8 CSM units & 4 Havocs as an upgrade. It makes total sense though that Havocs should be automatically included in IW companies formations. IRON WARRIORS ARMORED COMPANY 50 per Chaos Predator, 50 per Vindicator, 75 per Chaos Land Raider 4-8 Chaos Predators and/or Chaos Vindicators and/or Chaos Land Raiders DREADNOUGHT ASSAULT PACK 50 per unit 4-8 Dreadnoughts Upgrades - Siege Dreadnought, Obliterators, Dreadnoughts, Dreadclaws, Defilers Only comment here from a 'fluff' pov: for some not very clearly defined reason, the IW prefer to field units in multiples of 3. Therefore, might I suggest that these units come in formations of 6 - with the mix & choice of upgrades optional? BASILISK BATTERY 500 6 Basilisks Upgrades - Chaos Vindicators Exactly what I've put in my IW army ![]() As far as Daemon Engines, I think you've got those spot on too; having said that, I've not got any in my IW army - purely out of personal taste. I can't really add any more to this, once I've finished my IW army (not for a few months I'm afraid!) I'll add my opinions regarding how the list plays. I'd be interested in seeing your ideas for a Siege Titan, I've just used a standard Banelord (or more apporpriately, Iron Lord). Anyway, well done, it's a great list! |

Note that the lists we're after have to represent the various legions at the time of the Heresy... so no Defilers or Obliterators for us. ![]() However just by selectively not using those choices, this list could be spot-on! |
