Ok...my idea for a new epic army:

No troops...

just lots of long range artillery (namely 20 or so basilisks im going to get from otterman/other friend)

A large amount of Shadowswords & Stormswords

And a nice amount 20 Leman Russ tanks....

You might like The armylist that's linked-to on this page. :)

It's the Armoured Regiment armylist I've been idly working on with a lot of input from the guys here.

PS: Armoured Company would be 40k scale... in Epic, it's an Armoured Regiment! :D

what only 20 leman russes... take at least 30

The amount of firepower is obscene. I've seen uge orky warbands just melt away in one shooting phase from a single company.

Well not quiet Regiment - more like Battalion. Actually a battlegroup.

I definitely think that the Armored Regiment List has potential.

Depends how many points you collect. :D

Ok true - but 3000 points is ~ a Battalion. 10k is easily a Regiment.

I'd agree that's a pretty good ballpark for an Armoured Regiment in Epic.

Yes, a Task Force or small Battle Group ...  20 FA Tubes = an FA Bn (a US FA Bn had 24 Tubes), 20 L/Russes = 2 Armor Companies (USSR). And A Large amount of SHTs ? More than 20 ?  About 25-30 ?  So again that's about 2-3 Heavy Tank Companies ... So your Force would consist of 4-5 Tank Companies with an FA Bn in Direct Support.  Roughly that would = 2 Bns ... which is a Small Regiment/Regimental Combat Team/Battle Group ...  4-5 Armored Companies supported by an FA Bn is a powerful force.  But would have some problems in some situations and violates the very effective combined arms concept ...  But go for it and see what happens ?              :D

Hmmm... melting Orkses... *drools*  :D

I guess, as fun as this army would be, you'd need to offset it's weaknessess somehow; I assume you'd not be using this army in 3k point tourney settings?

ok ill add more leman russ (a?though i find them kind of ugly)

Hmmm....this concept requires some playtesting.  I think I have enough to field 3 russ co's, 3 arty co's, and 3 or 4 SHT co's.   Alot would depend on the terrain...and your mobility would be , err,  constrained.  But potentially workable.    hmmmmm....

well thats my great concern...in those cases ill exchange my lemans (or some) with CHimeras and deploy troops into terrain...

No sentinels in the Armored Regiment list - Salamanders, but they are basically the same.

Edit: I have been corrected.

Salamanders have a top speed of 35cm, so as a scouting formation they're significantly faster than sentinels.
