I had no idea it was possible to build these for home use. Imagine the possibilities! I wonder what Van will say when he sees this. ![]() |

That is just amazing, I wonder if the missus would let me get one, I'll claim that it only costs as much as one of her dresses and give her a knowing look. Tim |

Not bad at all if you were to use it to manufacture a highly profitable army model... Like say... NECRONS!? Snotgun already put his files out to the public to use freely and those images look awesome to me. The question is how many people would be willing to buy the models and at what price point and then compare that against the cost of the software, printer, and raw materials. My guess is if you sold a large set of 6 Monoliths, 2 Pylons, and 12 Obelisks for around $100, you would still not be able to sell enough of them to make it profitable. I doubt there are 30 people out here who would drop $100US. If I am wrong have the 30 people post here and I'll consider picking one up. ![]() |

the way i see it is that if you did do necrons..apart from getting busted...you would make much more money buy selling 20 or so stands of infantry for $15 and selling it to as many as possible of all 1000 users of tac comm, and many ppl will buy more than 1 set. |

Uh-oh, reality check - if I understand this correctly, it works with soft materials which harden after some time - but this does not necessarily make the materials usable for gaming/scenery models. Wouldn;t minf a chocolate army of Nurgle though.... And to continue the wet blanket act, the page on the fab@home wiki on material deposition leaves a bit to be desired - the discussion on lasers is quite amateurish. Still, it's a nice concept. I;ve no doubt that were the deposition problem to be solved, a Lego Technic set with computer control would be all that is needed. Although resolutiuon might be an issue. Then again, a modified inkjet printer with a new deposition system might work. Ok, enough work for today ![]() |
