Trying to find the height & width in mm of the following CAVS:
Jaguar
Cougar
Spartan
Sultan
Mantis

I know there are a few CAV owners who frequent this forum and I needed help.

I started over at the CAV forum, them emailed Reaper directly and haven't had any luck yet.

I'm trying to determine the size of specific CAV models to see if they would make suitable Epic titan proxies.

Jaguar, Cougar, Spartan, Sultan looked like good proxies for the Forge World Warhound and the Mantis for any version of Reaver(not taking size into account as this could not be determined).

If you can't provide height & width in mm, then just your opinion would help.

If you feel a different CAV has the right look/feel as well as size, I would appreciate the input.

Thank you.

I have a couple of these. I will try to dig them out. If I have not got back on this in the next few days, PM me to remind me.

IIRC I think there was a similar thread somewhere else on the forum , but for the life of me I cant find it...  Was it in the 6mm modelling forum?

I'm not sure if it is what you are refering to, but there was a thread that suggested using the Borsig-Spline Spider as a proxy for a Defiler. ?I bought a pack (2 minis). ?They look about right, in case anyone wanted to know. ?

Thanks for the offer CS, but I finally got an answer to this question by pm'ing one of the actual Reaper guys while he was on the CAV boards. ?This is what I got:
"Name, Height/Width at shoulders
7052 Sultan 53mm/37mm
7047 Jaguar 42mm/34mm
7046 Cougar 47mm/43mm
7041 Spartan 40mm/33mm
7078 Mantis 54mm/44mm

Heights measured include the 2mm thickness of the suppled Hex Base."

BTW, he was very friendly & polite. ?This line & Reaper in general is really starting to grow on me.

The Sultan & Cougar are too big to work as Warhounds.

The Spartan fits the size best at 38mm w/out 2mm base vs SM era Warhound 35mm (no base and not including back spikes, around 38 w/ spikes).

I will be trying the Jaguar. ?Looks are closest to the FW Warhound and size is close enough for me. ?

IMO the Mantis makes a nice Reaver or would work well as a Chaos corrupted/Pre-Heresy Reaver.

Ps.
One of the things that contribute to the Cougars height is that it is in an active pose w/ extended legs. ?I've seen another angle that makes it look more like a good Warhound candidate, but at around $10 a pop, I prefer to err on the side of caution.

Since it has a wepaon on its "carapace", the Sultan might be a good Reaver proxy.

I'll agree that Jaguar is a close match to FW's Warhound. The head on the Spartan looks too big for a Warhound.

In any case, nice looking minis.

Glad that you got the answers that you were looking for. I have a Jaguar and a Mantis in my 'got to put these together soon' box.

I think that most gamers have a love/hate relationship with Reaper. They are a very goos miniature company, but not so great with the rules. The current problems with the release of CAV2 seems to bear this out. I must admit that I was less than convinced that forcing the RAGE game system into CAV put me off to start with. I think that the rules have come a long way, and are a very decent rules set (from what I can see from version 1.5) but I dont think that they needed to start from RAGE.

Have you seen the 'up scaled' fliers from Reaper? I have to get a couple of these things. Lovely!

I think that the thread referred to is the one about the Mantis being a proxy for an Ork Gargant.

With four hard points and a very human feel to the Mantis I would expect it to be a warlord proxy rather than gargant?  It just doesn't have enough bitz and spikez for me to be orky..  :D
