Hi, just thought I'd share this pic with you. ?My fiancee's son Max got his new toy today, arrived through the post from eBay... a 1/12th Scale radio controlled Tank! ?As I'm sure you can understand, he's very chuffed. ?He's already run the battery on it down twice! ![]() I've not yet had a go, but I must admit I'm happy enough to stick to 28 or 6mm scale tanks. Or perhaps we can use it one day as an Inquisitor scale Shadowsword... ![]() Enjoy! ![]() |

Does it take four hundred D-cell batteries to run it? Good God Almighty that thing is huge! |

Probably uses a rechargable battery pack, most of the R/C stuff that size do... Course, the kids run them down way faster than I can charge it up. ![]() ib |

Sad thing is, I've seen tanks that were larger in scale, 1/8th scale I believe. ![]() There's a company in the UK seling 1/6th scale tanks made from sheet metal. A Tiger I in that scale is well over 1,5 meters long and weighs over a hundred kilos. ![]() But the 1/12th scale seems much more affordable while still impressive. What company makes those? I might want to order one, uh, for my son? Yeah, that's it! For my son! ![]() EDIT: after a quick eBay search I think I'd settle for the 1/16th scale Tiger I. But I don't know what on earth the company was thiking when they made the Panther. I mean, using _Tiger's_ hull... ![]() |

I get Make magazine and they recently had an article about modding RC tanks with IR sensors to make them hunt and kill each other. Pretty cool really. I also know that there are RC tank leagues that take that concept to the next level. Who said wargaming has to have dice and rulers? |

I was always quite taken by the 1/16 Tamiya King Tiger. Never got one though. |
