Cybershadow: Perhaps I should let you know what I have in mind for the 'alternative minis' section... Pictures: I was thinking here of a picture of the miniature next to what you think that it would make a good proxy for (one suggestion, if you think that the mini would work for a number of units), and on the other side a standard trooper for infantry (a tactical Marine, Guardsman, Ork Boy, etc) or standard transport/tank for AV units (chimera/Leman Russ, Rhino/Predator, etc). Details: I would then also like the follwing information - manufacturer/company, rank/specification, web link (if available), suggested proxy for which unit, and any further comments. I will put together this section soon and we can compile these into a resource. Thanks. This quote came from an older thread started by Cuban Commisar. He was kind enough to reinstall the photos so I could check it out. Link is here. I'm sure CS is still very busy, but this is something I would like to see and would def. contribute to. I agree that this is something that needs to be done. It is something that will be a feature of the new site. As soon as things round here are settled down, I will begin construction of the Tactical Wargames Network and we can start this (along with other ideas that I have). I cant guarantee how far off this is, but if people can start collecting images and ideas, that would be useful. Thanks. |

I would go a step further and even have a section with great 6mm miniatures even if you do not see them as a proxy right away. I think about things like how I use bikes as my Rough Riders. Well I could also use the old Battletech Savannah Master as Rough Riders, but not everyone would have seen them that way. Does what I am suggesting make sense? dafrca |

Sounds perfect to me. Even if it's not what CS has in mind, maybe a thread could just be started and he could pin it for us. No reason we can't start putting some of this up now and just add it to his new section when it gets started. As soon as I find some time, this is what I plan to do. |

The way that I originally thought about this working was to list all of the units in the various force lists with a link to a page of pictures of miniatures which could be used as a proxy. Each entry on the page would consist of a brief description and a picture (with something to indicate scale such as the unit that it is suggested as a proxy for). This would allow a unit to be suggested as a proxy for more than one EA unit. |
