Are GHQ's MLRS models close to the same size as Whirlwinds?  Close enough to look OK next to Rhinos, I mean?

The same model shop that has the Epic stuff on clearance has the 1/48 scale Tamiya armor, and I was looking at that in for use as various Dark Angels Vehicles.  (STuG/SturmTiger=Vindicator, possibly Panzers as Predators)  They also had the Dragon 1/144 scale stuff (that's roughly 10mm, isn't it?), and I got to thinking while I was looking at them.  I hate the Whirlwind model, and would like to be able to use the MLRS with the missile box trained for firing.  Will the GHQ ones work, or do I need to clean the hobby shop out of the Bradley/MLRS boxes @ $5 a box (for one of the models I want, and another I may be able to make work).  Plus, I can proxy Hunters with the same chassis, with either a Chaparral SP-SAM model, or using the Hunter turret on the MLRS.

Any advice from Primarch or Maksim, the 6mm kings?

No. 1/285 isn't the same as Epic's unofficial 8mm standard (probably about 1/220).?GHQ, for the most part, looks small next to Epic.

And, while the older GHQ infantry were small, the newer single casting infantry are very comprable in size. Ahem... I guess I'll have to take photos.

No. Rhinos look big compared to most microarmor.

Yes. 1/144 is roughly close to 10mm.

Try out this E-group:

10mm_SFWG ? (10mm_Science_Fiction_War_Games)

Purpose:
This group supports 10mm Science Fiction miniatures gamers of every sci-fi genre, background and rule set. While 10mm is the stated scale, everything from 8mm to 12mm including 1/144 and N train scale is included in site discussion.

I don't think that anyone makes a MLRS with a ?positionable rocket launcher... most come with it in stowed position.

I would think not.

Try C&C Pfc. Their minis tend to be a little larger and often come in several cast pieces... more fiddly, but also easier to work with. The owner will also "usually" sell bitz if you ask and spend more than a twenty spot or so. I've had very good experiences with C&C Pfc at any rate.

I hope that works.

And while Primarch is undoubtedly the "King of Primarchloads TM," he's probably only a prince or duke of 6mm.

I'm the KING!

How about EMPEROR? LOL :)

Shabbat Shalom,

Hi LITS,

I was wrong...

GHQ does have  a positionable battery:

Thanks, Maksim.  If GHQ's too small to look right (besides, Marines should be taller, anyway!), I'll look elsewhere.

I guess I'll raid the Dragon kits for some comparison stuff.  At $2.50 a vehicle, it's hard to argue with.  Especially when you only need 12 or 16 of the things.

Unfortunately, the 1/144 Dragon kits are pairs of vehicles:  Merkavas and M113s, Bradleys and MLRS.  I don't really need the APCs, but they might make interesting Rhino/RB variants.

Yes, you should. My experiance was the loose americans were smaller then the IG I had. That is why I passed on them.

If GHQ has had enough scale creap to bring them to the 7-8mm then great!

Hi!

GHQ models are good, but small when placed next to GW epic stuff.

I admit that I am not 100% sure, isn't GHQs MLRS in fire mode?

I see I missed the correction before I posted the photo. Glad to know I do understand how they look when fired.  :;):

I picked up the Dragon 1/144th stuff today.  They're interesting models, but are way too big to work as anything except a superheavy tank.

Looks like I'll have to check the CinC line out.

Nice site, M/S ... brought back some memories !  :D  But generally GHQ seems the best choice ...
