I've been thinking alot about my Space Marines lately. ?Not sure why as I don't really like the marines. ? I guess it could be because they have such cool toys. Anyway, I'm getting ready to develope the 2 chapters I'll be using and don't know who to pick. First, I can't stand the First founding chapters or their Primarchs (guess it's the heretic in me). ?Therefore I don't want any chapters known to be their successors. Second, I'm very fond of grey and red on SM equipment, so I thought one chapter in each. I've seen some very nice LR conversions that would make great LR Helios. ?So my first chapter will prob. be Red Scorpions (who are oddly enough charcoal grey). ?They have some other cool traits as well. ?Though this is not set in stone. Second chapter is a bit harder. This is my short list as they haven't enough background to contradict anything I want to do with them. Absolvers Dark Sons Emporer's Hand Exemplars(out of consideration) Imperial Talons Invictors Purgators ?Please offer advise or suggests. ?Especially if you know anything about one of these chapters. Thanks |

First - all chapters are successor chapters of one of the First Founding chapters, 3/5 are decendants of the Ultramarines. Now to answer your real question. Well it appears you are looking more for a Chapter to call your own than anything else. So just choose a color scheme you like and a name you like and then give them a style you like. You do not need to choose a name that is already out there. As an example based off a name you gave: Exemplars to me would stand out as shining beacons of what humanity can be and capable of. They would have white armor with probably purple outlining and such. But just an idea. They also would be about more daring types of attacks, shunning ambush tactics and the like. |

First - all chapters are successor chapters of one of the First Founding chapters I guess I should have been more specific. I can't stand the First Founding chapters that were involved in the Horus Heresy. If there is no background information on the chapter I choose, then my marines could easily have come from 1 of the 2 lost chapters. At the very least, if their history is unknown, then I feel a little better. it appears you are looking more for a Chapter to call your own Exactly, I'm just hoping to take advantage of the vast stores of knowledge available to make sure I don't pick one with fluff I don't want. Exemplars to me would stand out as shining beacons of what humanity can be and capable of. They would have white armor with probably purple outlining and such. They also would be about more daring types of attacks, shunning ambush tactics and the like. Very nice, wish I was that creative. This means I will prob. strike them from the short list. I like my humies mean and dirty. (damn where is that devil emoticon!) |

Iron Hands' marine chapter page has a lot of useful info on chapters in GW fluff. Imperial Talons are orange, though I'm sure you could stretch that into a scarlet red. All the others are listed as either "known by name only" or not at all on Ironhands. Personally, I think you could make the Exemplars as gritty as you wanted. It's only the chapter name. There is no requirement that they fit the stereotype. |

Hi C., *** What's your other name? Mark? Bob? *** It would be nice to put a name to the Consectari alias. Like the others have mentioned, it's best to pick a chapter you like and if none of the "official" ones appeal, then make up your own. I'm currently working (at least planning) on two chapters: - Silver Skulls (silver and black) - Crimson Fists (blue with some red) I like the colors and background for those chapters. I'm interested in doing some Celestial Lions when I get a chance. Find what appeals to you... Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Hi C., *** What's your other name? Mark? Bob? *** I know I don't post on the 6mm SciFi group alot (except to ask about things I want to buy), but I thought you'd know by now. ![]() it's best to pick a chapter you like Yeah, I really wanted the visual more than anything and didn't want to be the "anti-fluff" by playing an army in the wrong style. ?I'll be playing HEAVY on the armor just like I do with every army. ? The Red Scorpions appealed to me, partly because of the LR Helios, but also because they are extreme xenophobes, even distrusting IG and other SM chapters. ?COOL! Imperial Talons are orange Might steer clear of that one then. ?I like a more rusty colored red. I'm really leaning towards two chapters. The Absolvers with the tag line "Absolution in death" or The Emperor's Hand- My own personal fluff being that they are carrying out a long range plan set forth by the emperor before his "accident" . ?This is why the records of their first founding chapter have been deleted. "The Emperor's Hand still guides the Imperium" Of course Invictors and Purgators just sounded cool. Thanks for the input, hope to hear some more. Jerry |

Ok, just to make it more difficult I thought to add a few chapters. -Space Sharks. Their armour is grey and the only official fluff about them is their involvement in the Badab War on the loyalist side. Their chapter name sems to imply rather bloody nature; they might recruit from some planet with early polynesian type culture. Or something. -Red Wolves and Emperor's Hawks have red armour. Imperial Hunters have red armour too and, unusually, have inquisition symbol on their chapter symbol. The conection with inquisition as well as the name give hints of dark things indeed. ![]() |

OOOOOOOOOh, Imperial Hunters sounds good! Not much fluff going around for them? Know where I can find the info you have seen? Never been a big fan of the Space Sharks name, just silly predjudices I guess. Red Wolves scare me. Too much chance of them being successors of the hated Space Wolves (or at least appearing to be). Emporer's Hawk, another good possibility. Thanks. |

No fluff, but just going by the colour schemes in the old 40K Compendium: White Scars - Red overall with white helmet and right shoulder pad Flesh Eaters - Red overall with white shoulder pads Executioners - Grey on grey camo with green r. shoulder (sent on 100 year crusade after Badab rebellion) Red Scorpions - black and red "flame camo" on each piece of armour Raptor Legion (Blizzard Suit) - Grey with white mottle Space Sharks - overall medium grey (Took over home world of the Mantis Legion after the Badab rebellion was quashed) |

(consectari @ Jul. 27 2006,15:08) QUOTE OOOOOOOOOh, Imperial Hunters sounds good! Not much fluff going around for them? Know where I can find the info you have seen? It was in the old Armageddon3 website. Unfortunately the fluff pages about the forces involved seem to have been taken down finally so I can't point you to the source. However, there was only a brief mention that they had X companies there and how unusual it is for them to have the =I= symbol on their uniforms. If you want a chapter with a bit more fluff (but still nothing much), there are the Exorcists (red uniform). I collected the fluff from the Armageddon site; if you want it send me a PM with your email address and I'll send it to you. ![]() |

![]() ![]() Man I loved that Helios. ?Prob. use it anyway. Now thinking about Storm Warriors for grey. Can always fall back on Absolvers and Emporers Hand as long as no one has any fluff that conflicts with my needs. Again, I appreciate everyones help. |

I did red scorpions for my Epic Chapter. They're a chapter of unknown origin, not Aquamarine-decendants. I used the ForgeWorld colouscheme, which is charcoal grey, with Yellow armour trim. |
