Hi all, I was wondering if anyone had ever thought of organising an ongoing Epic game ladder or campaign for members of the Tactical Command community and friends. I know this would be a lot of work but I was thinking of ways of making it simple! You would be able to play any rule set you wanted to with any army you wanted to. For the ladder it would be a case of points for wins / draws and for modelling and painting (granted by your oppenent) For a campaign it would be a difficult to show a campaign map but it could be run as a training simulator idea where generals are trained with the differing armies. Points would be allocated to each side (users would be placed on differing sides when they joined) depending on results. Thoughts suggestions? |

I would love a web-populated campaign, would be very cool. You could set up a campaign map, with ladders and whatnot, and have people 'sign up' for battles. Then record the result and move the campaign to the next set of battles, which people would also sign up for. Would have to be either really open ended as far as background went, or restricted to core armies to get the most people involved, because not everyone has access to all the armies. Would be slow, but the end result would be a nice campaign, especially if everyone wrote up their battles nicely. I like it. ib |

I'm interested. I'm just not sure how much I would be able to contribute. |

It's not really a campaign, just a scheduled games leaderboard, right? |

Well, it would be nice to have a way to meld different people's games from all over into a narrative campaign . What I was thinking about was the campaign author would write up a loose campaign ladder, then have people from here sign up to fight the first battles. Then the author could adjust the campaign's next fights accordingly, maybe adding some flair here and there, and post the next round of battles to sign up for, and so on and so forth. Not necessarily a leaderboard per se, because I don't know if we have enough players running regular games for that...ie, even if you lose one of the initial battles, you could sign up to fight one of the later ones. It would be cool to have that type of ladder also, a leaderboard style, or even a total win/loss leaderboard for everyone here, but that is another topic. Hmmm, maybe I can write something up when I get some time... ib |

Big problem for all of us is of course actually geography. We may only be able to play against one or two people depending on our location (some of us none!). |

Here is the thing....you wouldnt necessarly be playing with anyone else here in a physical game...you are right about the geography. You would be signing up for each battle, which you would be responsible for having an opponent and for writing up a battle report to submit to the campaign coordinator, who would incorporate it into the campaign. So, while it would be cool to play someone from here, for most of us it is impossible. ib |

A nice narrative with designated battles being fought by people who can find the relavant opponents. Or adapt the narrrative to the available forces! |

I have big enough armies to play TL, IG, SM, Squats, Eldar, Orks and Chaos. My usual opponent has Eldar and Tyranid armies. |

How about a nice Imperial Crusade to recover a lost STC library. Could be the fleet is aiming into a highly populated galaxy system which has a craftworld going through it currently, the last tendrils of Behemouth on the fringes ready to claim more flesh and various Ork warlords on the main target planet. Think we should be able to incorporate almost all the races especially if we put it near the eye of terror! |

Yeah! Even if you started with just SM/Ork/IG battles, well...you could always get a raid from the Eye! I like it. I currently have IG and Chaos, and my opponent has some SM and maybe some Ork in the near future. My chaos is a black legion, but I have been toying with the idea of getting off my butt and putting my LatD army together... ![]() ib |

Enderel, A thought occured to me this weekend. Do you care which version of Epic participants use? My nephew and I usually play SM2. |

No that would be the greatest part of it! The over all styles of the armies hasn't changed all that much between the rule bases. The rules base would not matter, it would only really be the result that drove the narrative. I'd be happy to incoporate 40k and BFG battles as well. I suspect that there will be a number of named characters on each side that people should endeavour to keep alive or the narrative could skew all over the place. ![]() |
