Hi! I will preface this little walk into "la-la land" by saying that I realize that this has a chance equal to the proverbial snowball in hell, but I feel like doing an excersize in fantasy. ![]() If You (or I) could get a license to do epic. Meaning rules, models, etc, just for GW epic universe. What would you do? Let loose your wildest fancies.... ![]() Primarch |

Probably something totally stupid, like try to make the scale bigger. Or at least make the game potentially viable at larger sizes, rather. I'd love to be able to play things like a planetary foot-hold scenario involving like 3 Space Marine Battle barges, 5-10 Strike Cruisers, and a few hundred thousand IG soldiers fighting to take a landing area on a planet and begin an invasion. WHich would, of course, be totally impractical and take forever to resolve. But it'd be way fun. It'd be like playing D-Day in WWII miniatures. "You have a heavily fortified landing point which the enemy is about to try and break into. You have 155,000 IG soldiers and 10,000 Space Marines. Good luck." And no, I have no idea how I'd even attempt to make something like that playable (Well, I have a few, but they'd almost certainly be impossible to actually use in any worth-while fashion.) |

Well, let?s see. First I would make many of the older minis unavailable. Next I would only produce one or two of the core armies. Lastly I would make lots noise about new stuff to come, but miss most (if not all) self given deadlines. Oh wait, that has been done already........ ![]() Serious, I would/could do a lot but it makes my head hurt thinking about the fight it would take to get those things done. dafrca |

Simple, each stand represents a Company... ![]() Who's got a planet-sized playing area, anyway? |

The first thing I would do would be reproduce the really rare OOP minis, starting with Psy-Titans, working my way through Exodites and then anything else I could think of. Then I would move on to the rare OOP minis like just about everything from the AT era and all the Squat minis. As for new minis, I would complete the TO&E for all the armies so that no one would have to worry about having to scratchbuild or proxy minis. Most importantly, I would sell all of the minis at reasonable prices, like just barely above operating costs. I'm sure I'll think of more ideas later. As I type this, it's 11:35 PM, local time, and I'm starting to get sleepy. ![]() |

I'd ditch any command and order system for movement, and just give everything a six inch move, (12 inches for vehicles as a token nod to realism). Then I'd remove blast markers, suppression and overwatch fire as game mechanics so both sides can run at each other without fear. Finally I'd up the figure scale to 28mm and run an aggressive marketing campaign involving mainly space marines, with kids as the target market. What do you think Primarch - do I get to be part of your new start up? ![]() |

No one, really. But it doesn't have to be planet-sized for the start of a game. I mean, a planetary landing for the start of an assault (The beginning of a campaign-series or the like) would be fun to play, for me. It'd be rather impractical to play on any small board. If you did it to 6mm (1/300th) scale you'd probably need a room-sized area to represent the landing zone. But you could do it with terrain being smaller scale then the actual models are (Considering that at 1/600th scale a 45cm range weapon is still only like... 270 meters. That's a really short range weapon even for modern 'small arms' let alone heavy weapons!). Terrain is to 1/1200th scale maybe. YOu'd still need like a 15 foot by 15 foot board to represent a 50 square KM area of landing base. But it'd be fun! Which would actually fit about right with the 'scale' of Epic bases and weapon-ranges too. A 40mm long base is roughly 48 meters wide, so a 5 man squad would be spread out across a roughly 150 foot area. Sounds huge, it's actually not all that big. As far as actual 'what I'd do from a marketing standpoint'. Probably try to cut back on costs, and organize some major tournaments in places like the UK at first, spread to other places as well. Offer actual rewards for the winner. Something like 'Winner gets a 5000 point army of X type, including our soon-to-be-released models'. Probably wouldn't cost more then a few hundred dollars to cover the model costs, charge a $5-$10 cover to pay for the building and you've likely got a good deal going on. Try to get the people who play competatively into it (Since they're where the massive money is when it comes to gaming in general.) Probably try to use what already exists as a spring-board to put out new stuff, profits can wait until there's a nice big customer base which wants new stuff. |

You forgot slick full color photos everywhere. ![]() So that means you need a marketing person to help out. Can I sign up? ![]() dafrca |

Well, since this is pure fantasy... First I'd release Chaos and Tyranids. Then I'd bring SQUATS back. Then I'd dig up from the archives any and all notes and scraps of fluff made for Epic from Adeptus Titanicus on, especially those made for the never released Codex Titanicus II and start releasing da rare stuff like Juggernauts and PSI titans along with Necrophiles, er, Necrons. Oh, and as long as we are dreaming, with the profit I'd buy a house with a separate 200m2 wing for gaming and painting/modeling needs and hold a Net Epic convention. |

I'd release the Adeptus Mechanicus forces for Epic, and have them take over the Empire and end the war. All wars. In the grim future of the universe there is only..... Epic! You see, they'd invent this game, called Epic SM or something, and they'd hold tournaments at this great gaming centre called Armageddon, and all the races would play this and be good at it, but the Ad Mech, having designed it, would win all tourneys, and in a galaxy-sized campaign would take over the Empire and end the war. All wars. In the grim future of the universe there is only..... er - havn't we been here already? I'd also get a house like Mojarn's suggested one ![]() |
