i have decided to rebase all of my epic stuff to a new base. i dont like either the old square base(20x20) or the the new long one(40x10)(though ill still be using it for seige inf)

the reason for this is that i dont think they look organic enough. as everthing is in neat Xs or lines. so i was wondering what size i should use for the base.

construction wise i was going to cut it out sheet styrene then green stuff the lanscape in then glue the infanty or vehicle on

i was thinking 25x15mm does than seem right

If you are going for an organic look, then start with that and then cut the "island" like shapes from it. Each with a slightly different shape. You might find that even having eight or so patterns and cutting all of them from those might give you enough shapes to seem random on the table.

Just a thought.

Or, you could just ask if Ground Zero to see if they will sell you some of their excellent bases seperately. They make rough 'shapes' with space for two or four figures which Epic fits perfectly... I will see if I have any pictures.

I use 2p coins (25mm diameter) topped with miliput for my bases.  This mans that I can arrange the figures how I want on the base. The extra weight of the coin at the bottom means they are much easier to game with and generally stay put when balanced on hills and other terrain.

If you irregular edges then, as CS says, the GZG bases sound more like what you are after.

GZG does sell them already. Order pack DSM-126 INFANTRY ELEMENT STANDS. They come as an assortment of 2, 3 and 4-figure stands.

I would like to use the same basing for all my infantry even though the different bases sounds cool.

i will make it more organic looking by varying the placement of the figures on the base but am not sure what base size i should do.

i might just cut a bunch of different sized rectangles and try them out

additionally do larger based unit have an advantage over smaller based inf units? it would seem in terms of concerency and blast templet weapons they would. or would those larger bases make it so i could not get as many units into FF range?

Many felt the trade offs were enough to make larger vs. smaller a non-issue.

At least that was true a while ago.

Not a problem!  :;):

GZG On-Line Store

Go into the store and then into the 1/300th DIRTSIDE VEHICLES, BUILDINGS & FIGURES section.

The bases are in their DIRTSIDE MINIATURES - 6mm 1/300th SCALE line.

Hope that helps.
