So since the old siegemasters are in storage and I arrive in the UK on the 24th, 2 days before the CC its the old Steel Legion marching into battle. 2 problems. 1) I have no idea whats in the playtest box that isn't packed away. 2) I normally use this at 2700 points, how to expand? In answer to 1) I'm going to guess and get -10 points if I guess wrong about what models are availible. In answer to 2) can you all help out? My old 2700 point force (used for playtesting and proxies) is 650pts Leman Russ Company 050pts Ogryns 050pts Chimera 050pts Hydra 500pts Regimental HQ 050pts Hydra 250pts Infantry Company 250pts Infantry Company 250pts Manticore Battery 250pts Manticore Battery 200pts Deathstrikes 150pts Thunderbolts Anything goes realy as there are stacks of models in that case. Red lines are Leman Russ company, SC company and Thunderbolts. Simple ideas would be tossing in 300 points of gear (vultures, 6 hydra, a spaceship - well you never know). Alternatively some reworking could go on, say dropping an infantry company for a SHT company with Hydra. Though I am loath to drop activations and would prefer to have at least 9. I guess I could go off the wall and switch the russ for 2 companies of SHT. Shame the baneblade isn't fixed yet! Though 6 VC firing every turn would mean I could drop the deathstrikes for something else. |

If you can use the experimental rules Chris, try the vultures and garrison them on overwatch. |

My reflexive action would be to remove the Deathstrikes in favor of a trio of Shadowswords... you'll lose some of the instant-death effect against enemy tanks, but they're more flexible over all with repeated firings and ability to kill non-super-heavies when facing enemies who don't field many. Plus being harder for the enemy to silence. Not sure it would be the wisest choice, but it would be what I'd default to doing. If you don't like that one you could consider dropping one of the Infantry Platoons in favor of a Storm Trooper unit with Valkyries and spend the last 200 on either another unit of Storm Troopers without Valkyries, or a Shadowsword. Good luck with your army, in any case! |

Though those garrissoned vuiltures are tempting.... I think though that the garrisson rules probably won't be in use. I'm thinking to stick with the tried and tested core (nothing sapecial but then I'm not rocking the boat) and adding 3 hydra for artillary park flak and roughriders for objective grabs and teleporter defence. Alternatively 2 lots of sentinels for screens and 2 hydra for the infantry companies. |
