Some people noticed that the Forgeworld Catalog recently showcased its 40k line and Battlefleet Gothic line, but no Epic. You can imagine many people thought that this was a bad omen and a great many conjectures came about because of Epic's absence.

I emailed Forgeworld. Read below.

I received my order from Forgeworld and am very pleased with the Epic Tau. Georgeous and well worth the money.
But I noticed that Epic was not in your brochure, even though BFG was. Any reason? Are you guys canceling your work on them?

Forgeworld Response.
HI
I apologise for the delay in getting back to you. We are very busy at the moment and it?s taking some time to respond to all the emails we are receiving.
The Epic range was left out of the catalogue purely because of space. There wasn?t enough room to put everything in, so the slower selling ranges such as Epic will appear on a supplement sheet. We are not discontinuing the range. (emphasis added)

Although some items have disappeared from the webstore, haven't they?  I wonder if those molds just wore out.

Not much, but things like that very cool tank factory and the vehicle emplacements.  I don't follow FW developments much, so I couldn't say more accurately, but I just have the feeling that some things ain't there that were there before.

I'm not sure exactly which ones, but I know FW did stop making some pieces of terrain.

Didn't they do an Epic Harridan at one stage?

Way to see the cloud in the silver lining... ???

My take on it is that they could have easily ignored the email. ?It was sent on March 31st and -quite frankly- I forgot about it. ?The response came out of the blue.

If they were lying about it
1) they wouldn't bother a month later
2) they wouldn't give the explanation of the supplement sheet

It's not like they're huddled around in a circle saying, "Hmm, THIS guy caught on to the fact that we're cancelling our Epic line. ?Let's print a supplement sheet really quick then send him an email backing it up. ?He'll never know!!" :80:

I thought the response was sincere. ?Epic is selling slower than the BFG, so they made a business decision.

Oh well. ?Dafrca, you are excused. ?For everyone ELSE, you don't have to worry. ? :p

I dont think that this signifies the end of Epic for FW at all. They have never released huge batches of minis, and the steady stream does continue. The only difference between now and one year ago is that the Epic minis are not in the catalogue, which is a business decision that I dont necessarily support, but can see the logic in.

Yes, the Harridan was dropped from the catalogue (with a few terrain pieces), but when I heard and ordered mine, there was a hint that EA Tyranids may be revived with the new IA4 book, and that a Harridan resculpt was certainly possible.

A quick look at the SG Epic forum has a reply from FW to an email. The reply stated that the only reason Epic was not present was space. FW are not dropping Epic. Relax.

Cheers

MarkNorfolk.  I posted the SG thread and this one.  Read above, it's the same letter.  :p  I brought this to the communities so everyone would relax.  Didn't mean to create even more angst over it.

There are many of us here who remember the previous three editions of Epic too well. I dont think that you will convert the sceptics with an email quite so easily.

Only time will tell.

Moscovian,

Say and believe what ever you wish. I have seen too many times where GW said one thing and did another.

I have been with GW for longer then the 40k product existed. I have seen this pattern MANY times. Not once, but more then once.

The people who answer the emails and phones do not always know what they are talking about and do answer things the "corp" line until told otherwise. And they have changed the answer many times.

All I said was I will believe what time will show. And if the pattern stays the course it has followed many times before, well there it is.
