I went to Falesh's website and a Google ad caught my eye. I clicked on it and it took me here: Tau I know GW doesn't make up their own names and words but I couldn't figure out where "Tau" came from. I guess now I know the rest of the story! JF |

I didn't know it was a welsh word. ?I did know it's one of the letters of the greek alphabet too. So, er... their selling point is the bottle it's in...? ![]() |

Actually, it is probably a link to a asian word meaning a path of spiritual enlightenment. as in the "tau of poo" which is a book on Winnie the Poo view of the universe. |

It's another use of the word 'tau', but I think a link between a welsh word and an asian one is a tad unlikely, IMO. Of course, I know nothing about the welsh language and less about eastern philosophy. ![]() |

Gosh, the cunundrum of Tau. I think Vanvalak is right on the eastern philosophy, TAO is the one for Pooh. Tau is part of the greek alphabet, and the older egyptian one, a T with a loop at the top. Not sure about the link to Welsh (and other celtic languages) but apparently the evidence is growing that they did move from that neck of the woods to this. |

And an entire race shudders at the thought of the West thinking that Winnie the Pooh invented the Tao! ![]() I always just assumed that it was a corruption of Tao (from the Tao Te Ching). The Tau are clearly a venture by GW to break into the very difficult, but very lucrative, Eastern market, and by styling them in a more clean, Manga way they fit into existing culture easier. The name just finishes that off (and is also therefore easier for Eastern accents to pronounce). |
