I'm that used to not measuring from 40k that i forget i can premeasure. And out of curiousity how far does anybody allow the premeasuring to go? eg 1, only allow the measuring before you pick what target to shoot. 2, allow the measuring as the formation moves to get their guns in range but remain outside the enemies range. 3, the above plus allow measuring of movement into optimal firefight/assault range 4, allow any measuring at ant time. 5, something else |

Measure anytime anywhere. Just because someone has an eye for ranges shouldn't mean they are a better general (I would hire someone on staff to know ranges if I had to!). |

To me were dealing with a far future setting that has man-portable laser rifles so assuming that you don't have laser range-finders to determine the distance is a bit of a stretch even by GW fluff standards... ![]() At least to me anyways... Therefore... measure what you want before you roll... |

Always used it (even in 40K) for the same reasons as Chris. |

Pre-measure, it is the only fair way to play, besides it fits fluff for reasons already stated. Oh by the way, ever play Fletcher Pratts Naval Game? All shooting is done by guessing ranges in inches. I've worked in the Construction industry for over forty years, anyone want to come over and have a go with me in a Pratt Naval Battle? Jaldon ![]() |

Hi! I like the challenge, I dont allow premeasuring. It adds to the suspense and fun IMO. Besides I have an uncanny accuracy for eye measurement... ![]() Primarch |

I'm that used to not being able to premeasuring in 40k I'd not do it in Epic instinctively! ![]() |

Premeasuring all the way. Want to know if an engage move is a good idea? Measure before you declare. I find that it helps adds to the tactical options and evens the playing field, as well as avoiding all that frustration when things get stuck in the open. |

Hi! Oh, I rather like people over/underestimating and getting stuck out in the open. Generals dont have perfect knowledge of distance and such, so such errors can ocurr. Real men play without pre-measuring..... ![]() ![]() ![]() Primarch |
