Hi,

I was just wondering what all the armies were like? Perhaps we can all summarise the various army lists available for Epic; it would make it useful for peeps new to the game and those of us thinking about trying out different armies. I don't know if this has been done before?

So, on with the show. I'll start with my own army of choice. Feel free to add any armies you wish and comment on those summaries others have added.

Siegemasters
A slow moving, predominantly infantry force supported by artillery and fortifications. Super Heavy Tanks are the only war engines, the army has no access to titans.

You could add to siegemaster one that its a highly static force :)
The style of play revolves around how well you set up objectives and then your army. The gameplay revolves around sitting still and firing lots with careful judged counterattacks and use of the few mobile units you possess
Currently overpowered.

Space Marines
A highly difficult to use force, always fighting with the odds stacked against them. Get used to conducting drops or get use to losing 90% of the time :)
Currently underpowered.

Cheers The_Real_Chris - thats just the kinda reply I'm after! :D

Sounds like a good idea this, I'll have a crack at Orks:

Orks

A highly flexible Army List, can be foot sloggers or a very mobile force. Formations are generally large with fairly cheap individual units. Orks are usually rubbish at shooting but powerful in Assaults. Double and Assault are the most common actions as they receive a +2 to the initiative test. Can use Gargants.

p.s. Waaaaaaaaaaarrrgh!!!

Nice one Falesh.

I'm interested in seeing how peeps would summarise the Tau, Necron and Tyranid lists.

I imagine the Tau one is kinda shooty with mobility?  :80:

Eldar

Pooncy pointy eared space-fairies with a superiority complex, who keep moaning about how they are a dying race.  Fleet of foot to run away quickly after hitting from behind, they are darn annoying

Hehe, good one Tas.  :D

I was thinking of adding:

Siegemasters

The army on which GW wasted valauble resources that could have been better spent on something else, like Chaos or Nids for example.

Cheers for that Hena, thats a useful insight into the Tyranid army.

How do Tau fare? Are they a kinda cross between Eldar and IG? I can imagine them being a lot like their Warhammer40K counterpart - guns and mobility.

The way I see it Tau are just like Eldar but without the tragic fancy dress costume fetish.

Eldar:
"Look at me I'm a giant scorpion!"
"I'm a bird!"
"I'm a spider - boo!"
"I'm a clown"

Tau:
"I've got a big gun and body armour."
"So do I."

IG - a lot of AFVs, FA and troops, a lot of fire power and mobility ... combined arms force ... ? ? ? ? SMs - Air Assault force, excellent mobile Infantry, supported by AFVs, and a little FA. ? ? Orks - a lot of troops, vehicles and odd bitz ... little FA ... Horde attacks and mass ... brute force over firepower but still has a lot of ranged weapons. ? Eldar - Hi-tech, very mobile, good array of vehicles and infantry. ? It's AFV's ability to execute "Pop-up" attacks give them a real edge ... in the right commander's hands. ?However much of it's troops are designed for C/Cbt. ?Limited FA ... ? ? ? Squats - Slow moving , very heavy AFVs and FA. Lots of firepower. Their slow speeds and heavy vehicles makes them suited for defensive ops, but can do well if handled properly in the offense. ? ? ? ? Chaos - Limited AFVs but has lots of Infantry types including Deamons. Ample firepower but too many deamons could make it a C/Cbt force. ?And reduce it's "limited" AFVs assets if a commander wants to fight it that way. It's CSMs and SM AFVs are good as their loyal counter parts. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Tau - the most modern Hi-tech force in the game, lots of very mobile forces with AFVs and Infantry and has a good air assault potential with good Dropships. And relys on good CAS and no FA. ?Limited C/Cbt, but it's Kroot allies helps in that area. ?Lots good firepower, and mobility with "Pop-up" capabilities. Should be the best overall combat force in the game. ? 'Nids - ZULUs ... a Horde of Hordes ... limited range weapons. ?The game's best C/Cbt force ...
