For those for whom this is meaningful, I'm attempting a conversion of the old Battletech 3025 mechs into Epic statistics.

The point isn't necessarily to add new units to Epic games, so much as it is to make use of Epic's rules to resolve larger Battletech games than would be possible with its slower mechanics.

Hi Fuseboy,

*** Have you ever checked out "Battleforce," the game of large-scale combat in the battletech universe? ***

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Fuseboy,

Welcome!  As a longtime Battletech player  I must say this is an impressive conversion.  I think it would some great applications.

Thanks for sharing this with us.  Would you like to do some 3067 mechs as well...  :D

That looks really quite neat and elegant Fuseboy, thanks for sharing.

I'd be quite happy to do the 3067 mechs.  My main problem is that I don't have the 3067 readout!

All of the stat-rating is done by formula, so it's mostly a question of typing in a few metrics (tons of armour, walking MPs, tonnage, heat sinks, weapons, etc.)

The biggest thing with the newer technology mechs is accounting for the fancy extras in some suitable but simple way.  Anti-missile systems, beagle probes, C3, Guardian ECM, Narc beacons, etc. are really below Epic's "resolution", but cost tonnage and should have some slight contribution.  I'm describing 3050 technology, and perhaps lots of new stuff has been added?

I really like this idea.  I may even run it past some of the regular Battletech guys at the local shop.  They usually have 1 mech per person, but occasionally like to do large games with a lance each and about 6 players.  Needless to say, those take forever.

Fantastic work!  It looks like you took a structured approach to boiling down some complicated stats into Epic: Armageddon stats.  I greatly applaud what you have done and might start doing some work along the same lines.

Now, don'ttake this as attacking your work, but there are a couple of corrections / things to be considered I wanted to bring up:

1) Some weapons, like the AC/10, AC/20, and PPC are listed as either Macro Weapons or Titan Killers.  Shouldn't the To Hit be expressed as MW4+ instead of breaking out the AP and AT to hits?

2) Since all weapons will damage infantry just as well as stripping armor shouldn't all weapons have an AP to hit?  You could diverge from CBT some and give all weapons an AP and an AT ability, but vary it depending on how the weapon should be in a realistic way, such as lasers, PPC, and Gauss Rifles having a better AT than AP while pulse lasers, machine guns, and maybe missiles might have an equal or better AP than AT.

You can use the alternative ammunitions detailed in the latest rulebooks to change how the ballistic weapons would work, such as FASCAM and Swarm warheads would give a BP attack, Follow The Leader would give AT attacks the Macro Weapon ability, Flechette ammo would make Auto Cannons purely AP weapons with a better to hit, etc.

3) How do you account for Machine Guns being able to do more damage to infantry in Battletech in these rules?  Suggestion: emulate the way that the Multi-Melta is handled and give the MG an AP5+ and have the FF ability improved as per your system.

4) How do you handle mechs that have a shorter jump ability than their walking speed?

5) How do you handle the special rules that 4 legged mechs have?

That's all that my sleep deprived mind can think of now.  Keep up the good work!

Hi!

Good conversions!

I use BT mechas as proxies quite a lot, so its good to see them in epic stats.
