Interesting that today he would be a declared terrorist, indeed I dont see that he wasnt then.  Why is he so celebrated then?

This is merely an outsider's opinion who has no interest/background in the matter -I dont mean to spark any more heated political debates!

Well our backyard BBQ, beer, and fireworks evening went well, until a dodgy firework appropriately name 'CHAOS', misfired a big exploding ball straight into the crowd of seated spectators... :O  The perfect scatter roll for maximum carnage...

Fortunately no one was injured (well one woman got a very slight burn on her hand), but the kids decided that was enough fireworks for them for the night, as did another guest who is 7 months pregnant...

Simple.

He failed.

It's a celebration of the fact that he failed and was caught.

It is traditional to burn an effigy of Guy Fawkes on top of the fire.

Guy Fawkes was in fact hung, drawn and quartered.
