I've been collecting models for longer than I can remember now, I very rarely play them anymore but I still like to collect. Anyway, I was sat in the bedroom with my partner a few days back & we started to talk about all the boxes of stuff I've got under our bed, her brothers bed & in the wardrobe. It finally dawned on me that I'll never get round to painting all of them or ever having enough room to put them on show. This realisation was a seriously sad moment for me. I kind of felt that I'd finally lost the last link to my childhood. I always wanted to make my own chapter of Marines, I've got enough for two companies of them. I've got over half a company painted of Blood Angels plus numerious squads from other chapters in my army. But I always thought I'd have them all painted and on display... it never occured to me that this would never happen. It was always something that would happen, like the sun rising every morning. This really made feel depressed, I felt like I was letting go of a small part of me. I'm probably going to end up getting rid of most of them. It was something I was going to pass onto my kids, when I finally have them. Never mind, I suppose I'll just have to get used to it... Still, kind of sad.... ![]() |

Campsie, Don't feel so down. I came to the realization many years ago that I will probably never paint all of my epic minis, but I'm still collecting more. Just because you may never paint everything is no reason to give up on your dream. For heaven's sake, you're only 29! You have plenty of time left. I'm 43 and I have as much passion for Epic now as I did when Adeptus Titanicus first came out, perhaps more. Growing older doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to lose interest in things you enjoyed when you were younger. Heck, I still enjoy playing video games! ![]() So, even though the reality of adulthood just hit you like a ton of bricks, that doesn't mean you have to despair. As I've said to my friends, I might grow older, but I refuse to grow up! ![]() |

Cheer up Campsie ![]() My children all play wargames, and they are all grown up and still come around to play games with the old man. Now I am waiting for them to have kids so I can corrupt the grand kids ![]() I still collect, still play, and will probably take my last breath in this world with either a paint brush in my hand, or a fist full of dice (And I hope they all come down '6s' ![]() As for myself I never plan on growing up anyways so the world is fine, besides painting is such a wonderful way to relax. Cheers ![]() Jaldon ![]() |

I have also come to the realisation that I will never be able to paint the entire lot. But, that is not necessarily why I collect. I know now that, in 20 years when I want to add a formation to my Eldar force, I will have the minis available - no matter what I want in the formation, and no matter what SG/GW does to Epic between now and then. That reassurance is pretty comforting to me. |

Yes, at (almost) 49 ... I'm hoping to paint all my Epic and terrain ... However, as I realized last year, that there is more behind than in front, with some minor health issues and some upsetting personal incidents ... Epic has kept my mind busy and gives me something to look forward too. As I'm afraid as I get older there is less and less ... The Quest for the Grail will not be successfully realized ... |

Not much for me to add, but I'm 38 and still buying stuff like there's no tomorrow (er - is that idiosyncratic?) ![]() Anyway, I concur with the guys above - and Dwarf Supreme couldn't have put it better! ![]() |

Well, I guess all the good points have already been taken. Still, as long as the boxes are neatly out of sight I don't see any problem. And you never know how much display space you will someday have. ![]() |

Hey I'm only 31 there's time to expand ![]() (Edit) Just noticed your post mentioned that this terrible revelation came to you 'while talking to your partner'!!! Now I understand. ![]() ![]() |

Okay, I`m 27 married, daddy of a 1 year old daughter (15 months to be exact). And it`s just life that the spending on wargaming goes down. When I still lived at my parents house I could spend way to much money on everything. Now I sell old stuff from fantasy & 40K, things wich I`ll never ever paint, things wich I painted but don`t like anymore, to fund my wargaming. My latest sales are going good and the money will be used to expand my BFG universe & LotR minis. I only focus on these two games. BFG games wise and LotR model wise. |

Funny, when my better half stated that I had too much gaming stuff. I jumped on to the band wagon and mentioned that she had too many clothes/shoes/bags/cosmetics. It was a week before she spoke to me again. Happy days ![]() Tiny |

Hi Guys, Don't give up... start painting! Make a promise to paint one TINY unit a month. Before you know it, your collection will be mostly painted. Make tiny steps and work your way up... It' can happen. Don't give up! Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Yup sometimes I do big chunks, but often it's the little bits here and there that add up. All my armies are completely or mostly painted. Currently I am going back to my Epic IG to add bits and pieces, including squad markings. |
