A few (alright, MANY) years ago I chanced about this weird "Space Marine" game with plenty of cool little minis, coming in italian, no less. I was hooked.

I was always an imperial loyalist at heart (humans uber alles, we don't need no alien xeno-scum). So, a dream formed in my crazy, twisted mind: "I want to own at least a detachment of each and every type the Imperium has to offer". The fact that there were no less than three imperial forces didn't help matters, nor did the Titan Legion release of all the new knight units.

A few months ago, I participated in an Ebay auction which should have provided my last pieces: a detachment each of the three Chimera variants (Chimedon, Chimerax, Chimerro) plus a detachment of Knight Castellans.

I thought I had finally reached my goal. Alas, it was not meant to be: the package got lost in the mail. $44 vaporised, but what was much worse, I was now back to square one trying to locate semi-rare miniatures which do not come up that often on Ebay.

Not to be stopped by such trivial setbacks, I started looking for the damn pieces... again. A few weeks ago, three castellans showed in my mailbox.

A few days ago, an auction for 13 chimeras was listed on Ebay. One command tank, plus three for each type. I won it.

And finally, this morning, just while I was walking through the gate, the postman appeared. And it had one package for me.

I now own at least one detachment worth of every single imperial unit released during the SM2/TL era. Yay me!  :D  :D  :D

Now, let's go back to hunting the Psi, the Dropship, and the AT-era small metal pieces  :p

Congratulations, Magnus! :D ?I, too, have a similar goal, but mine is to get at least one of every detachment for all armies, not just Imperial, released for SM2/TL. For Imperial stuff, the only things I don't have are knight Lancers (I do have AT lancers, however) and Ordinatii Mars and Golgotha.

Hi!

Its indeed a pain to get some stuff from e-bay nowadays.

I suspect however that once epic goes "on vacation" again you'll see more stuff to be had as people dump their stuff.

Hi Magnus

Glad you've finally managed it. I did feel bad that our trade went bad thanks to Italian postal service. It took me a long while to track down any further ebay auctions for Knight Castellans on your behalf.

Unaware that you had won some Knight Castellans directly I carried on bidding on auctions for Knight Castellans on your behalf, initailly to no avail. Ironically I did end up winning the auction that I e-mailed you off-list a couple of weeks back:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 5223412902
The auction finished on 1st August- should receive them shortly.

I'll give you first dibs on them given what you had gone through before. I am still waiting for an e-mail reply from you on the chimera variants.

Cheers

James

Hi Magnus,

Mazel Tov!

Building up a collection can be hard. Each of the Epic incarnations has had items released just before ending, which makes a large number of pieces extremely rare.

It took me some time to complete my SM-2/TL collection.

Technically I'm still missing the LR recovery tank. but I don't think it was ever actually released.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Actually, I'm starting to suspect that it is the UK mail service I should be sending my thanks to. I lost another package during those weeks, and that one came from the UK too. Meanwhile, I received without problems packages from the USA and Australia. So, while I won't ever be able to know for sure, I'm now inclined to say that the problem lied on the UK side of things. Not that it actually changes things that much... except I explicitly asked for an international signed for this time.... would've really hated to lose yet another batch.

I actually replied the same day.... I needed two of the three chimera variants, although I couldn't remember exactly which ones. Now the matter is moot. Thanks anyway, I appreciate your willingness to sort things out.

All three of my "gee they must be lost in the mail" auctions have been from the UK.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you and you got what you wanted! :D

How bizarre- I have never had a problem with UK post. Have dealt once with Italy with so far zero per cent success rate.

One of my friends, Jim, sell painted figures on ebay. He has ebay rating of over 2,000- he has never had problems with UK mail but has lot of problems with Italy. He warned me about how bad the Italian postal service was but unfortunately too late....

I got that e-mail but was waiting for follow up e-mail to say eaxctly which chimera variants was it you were after.

Cheers

I actually went and removed anything denominated in GBP from my eBay searches.  After having 2 overseas trades go wonky (one completely mutilated package with half the stuff missing and another that took a couple months to reach me) I decided it wasn't worth it to mess with UK sellers.

I would still do a UK trade with someone I felt confident in, like you guys, but I would want shipping insurance.  Unfortunately, in the last trade I discussed with Krooza the total shipping estimate was more than 50% of what we had agreed on the selling price and I bailed, as reasonable shipping cost was something I mentioned early in the negotiations.

That makes me think that the chances of ever having a successful trade with anyone in the UK would be slim.

Hi!

Odd. I have done  some e-bay auctions with UK sellers and had no problem. I have bought a lot from UK vendors too and no problem.

Luck of the draw I guess.
