Movies that inspire you to game. Some friends were talking the other night and we got onto the subject of movies that inspire you to play. In the context of our discussion, it could be any game. My group from high school/college had several V&V superhero campaigns that ran over the course of multiple years. A good superhero movie is by far my biggest "trigger" for wanting to game, and my son (4 years old) is a big fan of several superhero cartoons. It's like a constant tease...

I second the Starship Troopers...Great for IG (or even SM) vs. Nids... Wing Commander for BFG and spaceship combat... LoTR (Two Towers and Return) or 13th Warrior for fantasy... |

All of the above, plus a few more ecclectic ones: Hornblower (original Peck and recent mini-series) Master and Commander Godzilla and other Kaiju movies! - ALL of them! Anything HG Wells/Jules Verne-like - especially but not limited to "War of the Worlds" and "20,000 Leagues under the Sea" War Documentaries - especialy one with big battles like Kursk & El Alamein Battlestar Galactica - all versions Lord of the Rings series Battle of the River Plate / Sink the Bismarck etc Aliens (how did that get missed before? )We Were Soldiers The Blue Max & Dawn Patrol - great WW1 inspiration! Guns of Navarone Charge of the Light Brigade |

Bram Stoker's Dracula (I love my Undead) Kingdom of Heaven The Messenger The 13th Warrior ok, by now I guess you know I love WHFB... Strange, though, Sci Fi or WWII films do not 'move me' to wargame; Kaiju apart, perhaps. |

Trust me L4 and Tas, my original post write up had more then 40 titles on it. I deleted a good number so as to leave room for others. I will add a couple more just for fun... Von Ryan's Express Lawrence Of Arabia The Red Badge Of Courage The Sand Pebbles Spartacus Johnny Mnemonic Armored Trooper VOTOMS Patlabor The Matrix Revolutions (I loved those power suits in the final battle scene) Again I will stop to allow others to put their favorites in.
