As per subject... from initial reports it appears less tragic this time.

Good to hear that it wasn't as serious. I still don't understand the rationale of blowing up innocent people. I can't think of an instance where terrorism has forced a government to change its foreign policy.

Indeed. Just got back from Scotland. I was wondering about the unusual ammount or armed security officers at the airport. Also they kept asking people to remove their vehicles from the front of the terminal. This was arround noon so I suppose they must have known that something was brewing. I'm not sure if this was before or just after the bombings.

It certainly forced the British Government to change its policy towards the colonies.
In terms of modern terrorisim.
Spain withdrew from Iraq due indirectly to the Madrid bombs.
Irish terrorism brought the Irish and British governments to the negotiating table with Irish terrorists.

Speaking of which, there was a bomb scare in my town today - Hemel , nothing major 'Next' got evacuated while I was having my hair cut next door. Didn't hear a bang and hair is looking fab so I assume all is good.

Heard they shot a possible bomber today. Some eye witnesses describe a strong smell of Acetone before security guards opened fire. Be carefull if you plan to strip paint of your miniatures while riding the tube... (sorry bad joke I know... )
Cheers!

Terror and killing may have worked at times, but that still does not make it the best or right way to bring about change.
