I ended up checking my old post and surprised how active I was compared to now, never responding to any post. Aware not many people left here now with Discord and even there I just flick through for pictures. Rarely I read any one’s posts.

In checking my old post and looking for those old pictures, I found the EpicLounge that brought back a lot of memories.

I know there are still a few people posting on this forum, but just wondering…

Who’s left?

Not many, Lextar. We get a few hobby-related posts but that's about it. I mainly post on my painting thread or NetEA updates.

I am still here, and I drop in daily just to check we haven't been invaded by spambots.....

I'm still here too, but I don't post as nearly as often as I used to.

I just post and read stuff in the painting section here too, and in discord.

Too much time on mobile gaming (and life) to have time to read any other stuff. Sometimes I scan other channels on discord.

Been pruning my bookmarks. So many epic blogs and sites no longer exist. Even when googling, it’s all Reddit and Pinterest. :(

Here too though most of the activity is on the Discord

I'm still here, checking a couple of times a week. I was on the discord, but now check that less than here as there's just too much new stuff on discord to keep track of given how infrequently I check it!

Are there any structural changes that would help with this?

I Doubt Discord can mimic a forum and think that is the issue for me anyway.

I check mainly the painting and wip, but it’s just one massive scroll. Rather than spot the topic for something I was interested in following and see the updates and comments associated to it.

Like this topic heading, I was checking my old posts... or at least the topics I started and reading everything I posted and people’s comments.

Maybe just me, but not really familiar with Discord, so not sure it has something similar.

Yeah, I get that, and I am the same. I dont particularly like Discord, but thats where people are, and its better than Facebook. It does have a 'forum' structure but I am not sure how good it is or how much it would help, and I am not sure how archived or permanent everything is even with this. I will look into it.

Not really – if anything it's great, loads of content being posted, the structural changes would be in my work/life balance not discord :spin

I visit the Discord most days but here rarely now, maybe only popping in to look up something old every few months and I’ll glance at the new posts while here.

I prefer forums for having threads and being about to look back at stuff but I don’t mind Discord in it’s own way and it’s just where people are these days.

It must be a year since I last logged on, but it's nice to reminisce. I was sad to see the demise of forums because they offered one's little hobby project a home (own thread) and it was easy to find out what fellow hobbyists were up to. FB is designed to make everything very hard to find after a few days, and the display of content is manupulated in the first instance. I have an account only because I need it for work (I have zero 'friends'!), and a happy side-effect is I get to see some tiny models. Discord is much better IMO, if only because it's more transparent.

Aside from that, I suspect most of us old TCers have other RL commitments these days! Good memories here, though. Logging onto the 6mm section to see what people had painted and scultped was always a joy.

Could you enable people to create forum threads on the Discord? Could have a new section where people could post a project log and anyone could reply, but there would be individual threads for each person / project rather than just as currently where everything gets posted in the WIP or Painting Gallery thread. That's good to have too but with a lot of posts in there stuff gets lost and it could be good to be able to look back on past progress of an army project if you find a nice one. See a story and gradual progress.

I don't think it matters if it's archived of permanant for painting logs. If in years or decades Discord goes away that's a shame but it could be nice to have now.

My local club's Discord seems to let you create threads in some forum subsections on Discord - they use it for people to create new threads for trying to arrange games but I expect the same could maybe be used for hobby project logs. Unless there's an issue with it I'm not aware of, I'm not super familiar with Discord.

This is a great idea and I have now set this up. Thanks.
