Here are some more of my vacation pics! Right from our one and only tank museum. A word of warning: the pics are large (1meg and over) so those using a slow connection beware. The link.

Vanvlak: Yep, he is my youngest; it was a family day at the museum. When I was taking the pic of him with the At-guns a veteran (the guest of honor) came up and asked if I was training the next generation of AT-troops.
L4: I know of that museum. It is no doubt n times larger than the one we have here (n being a very large integer). In fact it is in my list of places I'd like to visit someday, given time. Maybe after I have retired...

I was at Aberdeen when I was a cadet. It's a huge tank park, with AFVs from everywhere. It was quite an experience. And if you do ever get there Mojarn, as I said, G/W US is not too, too far away ...

We have a war museum and a maritime (not naval) museum and a budding air museum - no tanks though - they never were much in vogue here, and we just had a few British ones around in WWII - I believe the Matilda II is the most modern tank ever to appear her, were some were occasionally used as tractors at the airfields!
Great kid, Mojarn. Is he into Epic yet?

Heavens, no. And as long as he keeps handling things the way he does I'm happy about that. Sometimes I feel like a toy repair shop.
His big sister is far more promising.
The boy is everything I never was, meaning he will most likely grow up to be an athlete, be really popular with ladies, get along with just about everyone and be a GREAT dad if he ever has children.

I am fortunate that there is a WWII tank museum about 30 minutes away. Only been there once. ?Have about 5 Shermans, 1 or 2 even run ! ?An operating LVT4 that they take into one of the local lakes and give rides. ?They have about 30+ ?vehicles (mostly US) in all, tanks APCs, SPAs, TDs and a lot of wheeled soft skins plus field/AT guns. ?All inside and hundreds of small arms, uniforms, etc. from all nations. ?Got to go again ! ?

Our museum is pretty much run with volunteers; for some reason the state isn't interested in preserving old AFVs.
They have (AFAIK) the world's only running T-26, a StuGIII and a couple of T-34s also in running order. The T-26 was supposed to run on the day I was there but it suffered a clutch breakdown. I was hoping to catch it on video.

A running StuGIII ! It's a thing of beauty ! Of course my father wouldn't have thought so in France 1944 !
