This is a bare faced nosey thread ::)

What are the meanings (if any) of you forum name & Avatar.

Their lots or really great ones out there, but rather than ask individually I thought I would do it corporately.

I will start with mine, as I know it ;D

Name was given to me by the administrator (Cybershadow I think) when I joined :-\ , Sims is my surname. Commander, well I guess my leadership potential was recognised early. :D

Avatar, generic pic I use of myself for avatars, I'd badges etc.

Your turn.

"Man of Kent or Kentish Man?

Kent is traditionally divided into West Kent and East Kent by the River Medway. This division into east and west is a reflected in the term "Men of Kent" for residents east of the Medway; those from west are known as "Kentish Men". The female equivalents are "Maid of Kent" and "Kentish Maid".[21] These one-time traditional subdivisions of the English county of Kent, are kept alive today by the Association of the Men of Kent and Kentish Men: an organisation formed in 1913.

However, further investigation shows that the division is not the Medway, but further east in Gillingham. Edward Hasted, in his 1798 description of Rainham, writes: "The whole of this parish is in the division of East Kent which begins here, the adjoining parish of Gillingham, westward, being wholly in that of West Kent."

The division, according to one historian, Freddie Cooper, a former Mayor of Gillingham, remained until 1 April 1929 when Rainham was transferred, despite protest, from the administration of Milton Rural District Council to that of Gillingham."

So now you know.

I wanted to use my call sign from when I was a Mech Cdr in at Benning, Germany and the NTC Desert, '86-'90, - "Warhawk 6" or "Hawk 6" ... but someone already took it ... But I like Legion 4 just fine too. My Av is the Hammer Slammers insignia ... my fav mil Sci-fi book series ... And I have a 6mm Slammer TF, "TASK FORCE LEGION" ... it would kick any nancy-boy GW forces butts ! :P

I've got an (AO) Alpha Omega tattoo, taken from a tarot card that I got into during a psychology degree. I ended up getting a lot more insight into human psychology from reading a wide range a of belief systems than experimental psychology text books - who'd have thunk it!!

Anyway, I used to frequent advancedtautactica and this, combined with being half Irish, lead to the birth of the feared Tau warrior, Alf O'Mega!

The avatar comes from Alan Moore's excellent Watchmen, who I suspect also doesn't have a great deal of time for conventional explanations of the human psyche!

Mine was made up on the spur of the moment, as a crappy Dungeons & Dragons alignment reference (Chaotic Evil is the most evil and chaotic alignment a character can have, muahahaha!).

Also, Werewolves are Chaotic and Evil.

Later, my Werewolf acquired a labcoat, because I make stuff.

Huh - you told me it was taken from the name of a pub you used to frequent! In fairness, of the two variants, the pub story is easier for my limited brain to compute! :D

As for mine, it's an amalgamation of my first name and surname. Exciting, innit...

My avatar is a photo of my dice bag that the wife got me for my 30th last year...

The superlative of Carlos. My friends gave it to me as a play on "generalissimo" (two s's in Italian, one in Spanish) because both my parents came from countries with one of those. Not that I like the dictators in question, but it stuck nonetheless.

And the number is because I never received my confirmation email the first time I registered, so I made a second account. I like the Messerschmitt Bf 109 a lot.

Originally "Biggles" because I like flying and associated facets, especially WWI aerial history and developments. Due to technical problems that account got screwed up, so I adopted Bigglesworth's best friend . . . .

For those few who are unfamiliar with WWI aircraft, the avatar is Biggles' faithfull mount - a Sopwith Camel.

When I was 12 I wanted something cool so I looked up the word Death in an online Gaelic translator. It said Baaish or Vaaish. Whether or not that was accurate or real I thought it sounded cool and have used it ever since.

When I was in high school, a close friend moved to California. When we corresponded by mail, my friend started signing "Wizard Extraordinaire" after his name because he usually played magic users in D&D. To keep in spirit, I began signing " Dwarf Supreme, because I usually played (and still do) Dwarf fighters. My avatar was stock avatar when I first joined TacComm. I have since saved it on my PC and use it for other websites.
