So I'm working on my own ruleset and i'm looking for free book editing software thats pretty simple so i can start working on creating my rulebook. I'm looking for software that allows me to edit the page to add pictures and designs to the layout. If anyone has any recommendations I appreciate any and all assistance. Thanks, Blind- |

MS Word is cheap and easy. Amazon's eBook software can read docx's too so no need to fiddle around with conversions. |

I generally only use Word and InDesign, neither of which are free. However, whatever you get, ensure that it can use styles/style sheets and that you know how to use them. Once had to do a brochure for a local museum in the free DTP software they insisted on using (the name escapes me) and it did not support styles, the horror, the horror ![]() |

+1 to this. Whatever you go with, learn how to use it how it wants to be used! Word is a nightmare if you don't (which is what I usually do!) Use styles, page and section breaks, indents and margins, all that boring stuff or you will pay!! |

http://www.scribus.net/canvas/Scribus Is an open source dtp software. It is comparable to indesign but more clunky and less polished. I used it for several occasions during my design studies. It is a good tool but I havn't used it in some time. So I don't know it currnet state. There is a cool feature. If you use the portable version of scribus you can put it on a usb drive (or where ecer you want) and use it without installing. So you can have your tool and data always handy on eny computer with a lot operating systems. |
