Hello all,

This isn't very War-gaming ish but it seems we do not have a general yacky yack area.

I'm trying to make a miniature box of a product design and I'm failing my techy person check. For my marketing class we need to have a model of our packaging. So I've been looking for template or trying to make one that I can scale to size with the Labeling I want and then print to scale.

Any help would be good and what format to use.

Currently I have access to:

Microsoft Word 07 and 10
Microsoft Publisher 07
The Full Adobe Suite (Which so far I haven't even gained one level of experience! lol)

Hi,

Check this forum: http://www.boardgamegeek.com/thread/848 ... you-needed

and also one level higher.

There are several topics on box building.

what sort of box are we talking about? what are the restrictions for production, is it to be glued or tabbed with slots, a lid that comes off or one part etc etc … ?

Care Engineering, by Ian Honeybone is an excellent book for making packaging mock ups and nets.

In terms of format to use, if i was doing it the format would depend on how much additional 'graphic' design the box needed, but Illustrator or InDesign would do fine in either case.

edit: (just noticed you say no experience with adobe stuff, so probably stuck with MS stuff then, but would be easy in Illustrator depending on the exact nature of the box, wouldn't bother with InDD though)

I'd recommend Adobe Illustrator, simply because resizing vector graphics is so much easier. There's also a lot of tutorials online for it, so if you get a specific problem someone has probably already explained how to do it somewhere.
