I'd use it. That said, in the past such things have never seemed to succeed that much. I think that was partly a shortage of people on the Internet, though. Of course, a lot of older wargamers are also very neurotic about giving the Internet their personal information. Could do well, might not. I'd use it for the matchmaking, not sure I'd use it as a community. They also suffer from the major flaw that you either need a massive list of games or people will spell game names really, really inconsistently and make things hard to find. |

Depends. I mean, do you want to include CCGs? Board games? PBEM? All the editions of 40K? And then there's the factionalism within games - people who only play Battletech pre-Clan, for example. And there's styles of gaming - people who prefer really competitive style games vs. people who want something more casual or more narrative. And then there's the groups who play using models from X but their own rules... I really like the idea. I'm just not sure where it'd end up... Also, Boardgamegeek arguably already sort of does this. |

I could've sworn you could search for local players with BGG... The difficulty with board games is in part finding inclined people - most folks aren't eager to play a four hour epic game based on the world of Conan the Barbarian, no matter how well you know the rules. ![]() I'd definitely be interested. I just don't want it to go the way of many player-finders before it. ![]() |

Yep, I'd be interested as well Elsmore. Key to success would be getting word out to the right people... |

Since we're apparently on different continents, I think we'd be disappointed in it with just the two of us. ![]() |

If you want to work through a 6 hour time difference and buy me a 4'x6' table, then that website will clearly be of immense value to our joint efforts. ![]() |

Long time ago, as the internet measures such things, I built a website for managing tournament and league play for our local club; It's still online, if you'd like to take a look: http://sdahl.net/campaign/ It's sort of languishing, I'm afraid. I recently added support for Epic, in addition to WH40K and WHFB. |

I had a similar, specialised page for this kind of thing. It was a simple flat file database to a text file, with a tiny CGI script to allow people to enter their details and run a search on game and locations. From memory, it included name, email address, location and country, each version of Epic and a text box for the specific forces, BFG (+ fleets) and Warmaster (+ armies). It worked relatively well, but ended up getting huge amounts of porn spam as there was no security on adding details. This meant that I had to monitor it weekly, as well as making alternations, etc. It became difficult to keep going, and I wasnt sure that it was used enough to warrant it. Then I deleted all the spam porn links, and certain people here complained that now they would have go out and look for it online. ![]() Something like this with a login I think would be good. Even as a very simple system running for a couple of years, we had over 200 genuine players registered on it. |

I think that the problem that you will find is that most people have established games groups, and are happy within those limits. If I am travelling, I may want to find a game, but that will be the exception rather than the rule, and if I dont travel then I might use a site like this initially but then not return when I have found a game group. |
