Post subject:  Inspire me with your painting of tiny miniatures!!!

Hello folks :) It’s been a while, but I’m almost ready to make regular visits to Tac Comms again.

Basically, for over 3 years (basically, too freakin’ long :P ) I’ve been too busy with other things to paint any EPIC – this has been a source of sadness for me, because it is truly my favourite gaming system, and I love converting and painting EPIC minis. I’ve shied away from these forums to a certain extent because seeing all the amazing work that people are stilling doing in painting EPIC armies makes me a little bit sad that I just haven’t had time to work on mine.

Things are changing though, and I am about to return to a place where I am able to resume painting EPIC stuff! 8) Firstly, the thing that has been the biggest obstacle preventing me working on EPIC stuff is my 40k Chaos Marine army, the Legion of Taurus, which has become a near obsessional project, taking in 4 years (so far) of work – this paid off recently when I won Best Painted Army at a local 40k Tournament. Although I have more work to do with this army, I feel that getting the army to a standard I can field a fully painted tournament list (as well as winning the award) marks the point I can step back and have a breather from it.

The second change is very exciting – basically, a few players at my local Wargaming Club have decided to give EPIC a try, and have invested in Armies! They have already bought or started their armies, so will be doing some demo games with them to teach them the basics of the game. The cool thing is, they’re each doing different armies – Space Marines, Guard and Eldar. So knowing that I’ll be able to get regular EPIC games (something I’ve missed for about 4 years now!) is motivation to get on with some more EPIC armies.

So now I’ll be back here more often, firstly to check out what you’ve all been doing and get some inspiration and motivation to paint EPIC again. Then, at some point in the next couple of months, I will start a new painting log to document my progress with my EPIC armies – to start with, I’ll be doing my Legion of Taurus Chaos Space Marines in EPIC. Also, it just happens that I have some Otterware and Apocware that make very good Chaos proxies ;) which I need to paint…

See you around, thanks for looking! 8)

Welcome back... I'm still painting up epic, though I've slowed a bit recently to finish up some other projects for BFG, 40k, and battletech.

Good to have you back on board mate.

Here's my Iron Warriors (there are lot's more of my armies there) and here's a link to our recent Epic Armageddon tournament.

I'm very fortunate to have a growing Epic community and I hope your local club embraces it aswell.

Have fun!
Steve.

Thank you for such a warm welcome back! :)

@elsmore: wow those are some amazing Exodite conversions/scratch-builds, and beautifully painted! Well done, great work!

@L-4: your collection never ceases to impress me, neither does your single-minded dedication to 6mm sci0fi (apart from 15mm Hammer’s Slammers, of course ;) )

@Vaaish: I’ve noticed your gallery thread over at Bolter and Chainsword, great to see you’re still painting your beautiful Marine armies, as well as branching in to Ad Mech (nice Ordinatus conversions, by the way :) )

@Onyx: I remember your fantastic Iron Warriors army, I believe you started yours about the same time as I started mine… Some of the miniatures in your blog post were commission jobs, am I right? I can remember seeing your posts when you received them, and thinking ‘how has this person managed to accumulate so many of those EPIC Chaos Preds and Land Raiders? :D Some fantastic conversions in your army, I remember the drop ship – I have that same model and have been wondering what to do with it for almost 4 years; I won a Storm Raven for Best Army at that 40k Tournament, so I plan to combine it with that Star Destroyer kit to make a 40k Chaos Drop Ship/Transport… once I’ve done some EPIC, that is ;)

Also, the tournament looked great, some very cool armies on display (loving the Hoth Star Wars themed Krieg! 8) ). I’ve seen that there was an EPIC event recently in Cambridge – not too far from me – hopefully if it runs next year I can bring some of the new EPIC players from my gaming group…
