Hi! I'm seriously considering buying into this game. I have the two rulebooks and have read through them. I would like to know peoples opinion on this game. Primarch |

I don't have it, but my nephew does and he has nothing but good things to say about it. IIRC, he thinks the rules are better than 40k's current incarnation and it's more economical to buy minis compared to GW's prices. I find it kind of ironic who designed it. ![]() |

Hi Primarch, It's a good game and it's sort of ironic that so many of the game's rules and minis designers are ex-GW defectors. However, it's really not too much more than 28mm 40k with a few twists. It's a skirmish game and a combination of infantry and walkers (War Machines) dominate most armies. There are characters that can cast various spells that affect the battlefield. The walkers have little dry-erase cards to keep track of damage. It's fun and I've played a few times, but I'll pass on it. I think that when comparing War Machine to Starship Troopers, SST is more innovative, but lacks the great support that WM has. I'm not buying into either although the temptation to convert a WM into an Epic Titan is there... same sculptor too! Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

I think the damage cards/system is sort of odd. The fact that damage always migrates one direction, then when it runs out of room, jumps back to the other side of the jack seems... weird. "Oh, look. A solid hit that blew off your right arm!... and damaged your left arm!... while leaving your torso undamaged?" I know it's really a very small thing, possibly even petty, but it bugs me. |

Cool looking figures!! Is there any other reason to buy a game? ![]() I have recently been reading Harbinger magazine- I can see now why friends referred to Harbinger as gaming porn. There are some stunning looking figures showcased e.g. Warmachine, Confrontation, Wargods of Aegyptus. ![]() I have succumbed and gone out and bought stuff for all 3 games. I have based my selection not on what works well in game or is broken/cheesy/beardy/insert own adjective. Instead I have bought just figures that I loved the look of. So have n't yet played Warmachine. But when I do, I'll have a small Cygnar force and a much larger Khador force. I don't think Warmachine will beat the appeal of Epic i.e. seeing massed tanks & infantry backing up titans. But as individual figures the Warmachine jacks/infantry look cool. Look foward to seeing other people's opinions on how the game actually plays. Cheers James |

If you want to get a seriously good 28-mm scale skirmish wargame, buy Chronopia. It's fantasy, and it's way better than anything else in its market segment. It suffered from the sinking of its previous owners (paradox games), but I understand that the IP was bought by an US company (Excelsior entertainment) that put everything back into production. Hi! I'm well aware of Excelsior, however they suffer from the old Target Games lack of good support syndrome. I have their new Warzone game and had Chronopia since the first edition, but there are still basic figures that have YET to be released in all these years. I think this company will croak soon too, getting lots of bad press and they seem to be having some financial difficulties according to some sites (take that with a grain of salt of course). Warzone was the only skirmish game I ever liked, but the horrid support is too much to bare. Primarch |

You do realize that, being written by the NetEpic coordinator which masterminded the project mainly due to GW's epic "support policy", this line is seriously weird ![]() |

Primarch just give in, and get 40k, or 40k Kill Team! ![]() Either that or Starship Troopers ![]() I fail to understand the appeal of Warmachine - expensive minis which look 'silly'. |

Hi! Point taken. ![]() ![]() It sort of odd that while I will spend whatever amount without thought for epic, I'm very cautious buying any other minis game. I would like some support, not a lot, but some. Excelsior seems to be dying from my perspective and I dont want to have invested in a game where I couldnt get minis later. Primarch |

Hi! Hehe, it well be a cold day in you know where before I buy 40k... SST however looks tempting, but I wouldnt invest in it until the company shows it can "float on its own". I'm still looking for that special 28-30mm skirmish game. Havent found it yet. Warmachine appeals to me due to the steampunk aspect it has. Its fantasy, but with some tech thrown in. Still, I'm not entirely convinced in buying stuff. Primarch |

Mongoose press makes pretty decent d20 product... Hopefully, all the games share the same money pot. I like the Warmachine minis, but Confrontation is getting more and more of my Christmas cash. ($600 two years ago!) |

Hi! Well I pretty much passes on buying into it. I kinda rekindled my interest in 6mm WWII microarmor. So I'll buy some of that. ![]() Primarch |
