Hi Everyone,

Deathlynx: Oh, and I've been too busy recently writing the AB datafiles for Babylon 5: A Call To Arms...There's another game I wish people around here played...

I've been a little bit interested in this game:

http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/minia ... sSeries=28

I really like the look of the Vree...

But.. WOW!  :o

The starter box is $100.00 USD!

I like the flying saucer look though and also enjoy Babylon 5.

Chuck and Eric really like that game.

The cool thing is that the flying saucers could double as Deeloks for Monster Island!

*** Anyone else interested in "Babylon 5: A Call To Arms?" ***

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I also like the look of this game.

I actually have some of the miniatures already.

I have a large minbari fleet & a few Earth and Vree ships.

Never played it though. :o

I'm actually in the process of making rules for the Minbari.

Hi Dafrca,

My friends are playing this game at least once every other week. In fact, they will be playing this upcoming Tuesday.

The Vree fleet interests me because I can use them as UFOs for my Kaiju (Godzilla) games and as support elements for some of my DS-II armies.

Well that, and they're cool! :D

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

I have played it a couple of times, and while it does have a few aspects that bug me (spaceships are something of a passion of mine...), it does play fairly well. It should also be fairly easy to learn for anyone who has ever played BFG, as it has a fair few things in common.

The cost of entry is somewhat prohibitive as well, and also bear in mind that Mongoose are releasing a new version of the game soon, so it may be worth waiting a while to buy (Im not exactly sure how the new set 'works' (in regards to compatability) but its detailed on their website).

Hi RB,

I don't plan to buy a set of rules... that's what my friends are for! :D

I'm not much of a spaceship afficionado so for me, the attraction is having cool UFO ships (the Vree fleet) that are easy to paint and can double for Deeloks for kaiju games and Martians for WOTW games...

Shabbat Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Well Maksim, thus my reason not to get into the game. I neither have any friends that are local that play, nor do I have any friends willing to buy into the game and share with me for free. ???

I once bought a whole lot of Babylon 5 ships to play with using the Full Thrust rules, but I never really got into painting them, so I sold them off on eBay. I have been known in the past to use some of the MicroMachines models using the Full Thrust rules.

Actually a fleet box is $100...The starter set is only $50...

think of it like buying an Armydeal from GW...It gives you multiple ships from multiple classes at a slight (or sometimes not so slight) discount...In fact it allows you to play virtually any scenario...Unfortunately you probably should get the basic box as the rules can be a little heavy...especially with the special orders...

Oh, and for you AB3.0 users out there I have the basic 4 fleets done already...They're not up on Lonewolf's site yet but here's a direct link to the files;
http://www.datafilesrus.com/a3/b5cta.ab

Actually I've already gotten IA done and am more then halfway through the League but I'm planning on finishing the basic box ships before I post the update...After that will come the suppliment ships...

Personally I've never liked the Vree...I'm not a big "flying saucer" fan to begin with and I always felt they were simply designed in to appease the UFOlogists who would be watching...
I hadn't heard about the new release...DUDE!!!  I'm in the process of checking their site and I just saw the EA Shadow Omega is out this month!
Anyway, this is all I could find about anything new;
The first major evolution of A Call to Arms is due for releas next month, a hardback supplement entitled Sky Full of Stars. Introducing new rules for boarding actions, space stations, advanced fleets, campaigns and much more, Sky Full of Stars is set to catapult A Call to Arms into one of the broadest space combat games on the market. New ships and fleets are also being worked on at the moment, allowing players to field everything from the latest in Earth Alliance Design to Dilgar and Drakh fleets

And that implies simply a larger supliment not a new eddition...Heck the current version is less then a year old as it is (which is why they're still working on putting out the fleet boxes)...

That reminds me, are the ships just the old AoG large scale ships?

If so, I have a pair of Earth Artemis Heavy Frigates in my bitz box.  :;):

Hi DL and Gang,

DL: Personally I've never liked the Vree...I'm not a big "flying saucer" fan to begin with and I always felt they were simply designed in to appease the UFO-ologists who would be watching...

Call me a UFO-ologist then! :D

I like the whole WOTW / UFO / saucer thing!

Depending on my money situation at the time, I plan to buy a Vree fleet and the book for Vree and call it quits. That would make Chuck and Eric very happy and still leave me UFOs for kaiju games and 6mm sci-fi games.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.

Hi Dafrca,

I dont know. I didn't collect B-5 minis before and didn't know the AOG line very well.

I can ask Eric and Chuck on Tuesday.

Shalom,
Maksim-Smelchak.
