I cant believe I'm asking this.... Does anyone here play the new clix version of MW? I found myself at my local club on Monday without an opponent for my 40K IG or epic and ended up playing MW:DA againts a guy who only had a WHFB army(despite having vowed never to play clix or CCGs..... damn....). More to the point, it quite worryingly seemed like a half decent quick game. Not something I'd want to settle down with for a lengthy battle or campaign, but I have looked over ebay for MW items & am tempted to get a small force for just such club nights as last monday & other times when a 40min game would be good. Anyone had any experiences with the game & what are your thoughts on it? |

I know what you mean. Thats why I have always avoided such games and CCGs. I wouldnt go in for a lot of it, just enough for two small forces to act as a "reserve" game. I'd probably just buy 2nd hand spares from ebay so I know what I'm getting (and I'm not bothered about "rares" or "uniques" etc. so they're generally cheap ?  )

Hi! I dont mind the "clickie" games and I think they are quite fun. As mentioned its the "collectable" aspect that steers me clear of them. I consider it my choice only what I can or cant have inmy armies. To have it dictated to me by the manufacturer is intolerable. Primarch |

Tell you what: I HATE MWDA!!! I love Battletech 3rd ed, there are rules for designing own 'mechs, and all. Unfortunately, the miniatures are now nowhere to get and I'm running out of my supply. And every person I managed to convince for a game of BT chickened out for no obvious reason short after we began playing. So, what's bad with MWDA? 1. The "clickbase" junk. "No rulebooks required". Holy nightmare! Are the rulebooks what we love most in the game, outside of playing it, that is? 2. No more DIY mech design rules. The most important part of every game system is how easy is it to create new rules and custom units. 3. Miniatures sold pre-assembled and pre-painted. This thing is a death sentence - now every odd bloke with too much money on his side can play the game. This denies the game this little bit of "elite" aspect, where you are responible yourself for making the miniatures and painting them, where you are measured by your skill at converting and at painting. Oh, and CCG's are not this bad... they have the random bit for sure, but it's the player who must construct his own deck from the cards he has, and this requires some skill for sure. And the other element that counts is how good one is in tactics he devised for the particular deck. |

Tom, The starter back costs about $20.00 USD in the States so I'm guessing that they charge somewhere between 5 to 8 Pounds Sterling. The reinforcement boosters cost less. Many shops sell their unwanted extras for much lesser prices depending on the model's stats. They also go on E-bay. Shalom, Maksim-Smelchak. |

Rather look for the so-called "Classic Battletech", Netepic. I'm sure you'll like it more. Old Battletech lives on... |

And did you all know GW are into 'clickables' as well? Sabretooth (the GW-owned card games people) are producing a LOTR clickable game - with models which are good by click-standard, but terrible otherwise. The one good one is of Frodo wearing the ring - you just get the base with nothing on it - seriously!

Hi! Fad games make a lot of money. Magic, Pokemon, Yugi-oh!, clickie games are made to get the most money in the least amount of time and retailers like them because they require little store space and maintainance on their part. It remains to be seen how many long time gamers will come of such games. Primarch |

I bought a few starter packs and boosters for this (Dark Age and Fire For Effect). It is a fun game for times when you cant be bothered, or are unable to, carry a large warhammer army. i can fit a sizable force in a small space, and as they are already painted and made of some soft plastic, dont damage easily. I understand what others have said, and agree. I'd rather know what I was getting, ad be able to paint them myself. Although I have seen others who have painted over the scheme you get, so it is possible. I have not used mine for about 6 months or more. I had some models of each faction, but was trying to collect the swordsworn faction. I had lots of steel wolves, dragons fury, highlander and Brannsons Raiders as well as some Mercs. |
