This just came up on Dakka:

Dakka Forums

The conclusion is that the Warstore have only recently discovered that GW US will not be sending minis or support beyond the boxed games to US retailers for secondary games. So, Gothic, and Epic when it is relaunched, will be GW MO only!

Another step in completely the wrong direction!

G/W US will "spin-up" anything from SM1 thru E40K, if they have the molds. I ordered bunches of stuff for Darkone and they have most Epic & BFG/SF. ?And they said they will ship overseas. ? ? Bad News - they are expensive, add shipping overseas, your talking real $ !! ?But if you're willing to spend the $, most items are available. ?I've been ordering by phone from G/W US for years, and have had little to no problems. ?So take this for what it's worth ... ?:D  It's all about the $ !!!

Sure, but would you buy a game that you knew you could only get more minis for by mail order? Do you impulse buy minis by telephone? A load of minis are sold by people walking into a store and seeing something that looks cool. I think that this just shows GW's general policy not to support anything except the big three.

It is strange. A while ago, I got mad over the fact that GW produced games every six months, and kept cycling and churning them out. Now, they appear not to produce anything really new very often, and dont support what they have!

I'm sure I'll be buying all my E-A stuff by phone and selling the extras here. ?By doing this they must feel that they have more control. That may or may not be true ? ?G/W has a tendency to be run by "management by exception" as opposed to any other system, at least that is what it looks like to me. ?Epic is only alive because Jervis likes it. Again, It's all about the $ ... which reminds me !!! ?I've got to leave for work !!! ?:(

Hmm, I agree with you CS about the impulse buying- I would still be collecting 40k had it not been for me meeting a player of BFG in the area, and of course we in the Uk have to get our BFG minis by phone or from the online store.... :L

Hi!

Cybershadow has the right idea. As a former retailer, I can tell you any game that a store owner cant sell directly will, of course, not be pushed. Some store owner may not even let people PLAY games at thier store they cant get to sell themselves. GWUS mail order just doesn't have enough market penetration to get epic to succeed on the basis of online orders alone.

Then again, it seems only Jervis cares about epic anyway, so it isn't shocking that the powers that be in GW dont back him up. We all know how suspiciously quiet other GW bigwigs have been about the new epic. Such silence isn't what you call "inspiring".

It's a shame that Jervis works to get plastics produced to make epic accessible and marketing seems bent on making it fail with short sighted visions such as not to let independents sell it too.

Hopefully this will change...

...hopefully.

I guess I just find it too easy to make a phone call and 5 days later a package arrives at my door. :D  Epic is Jervis's baby, and that's why it still is a "blip" on the screen.  G/W is only going support fully those games that make BIG BUCKS. E-B, (if there is an E-B  ?) will depend on E-A's success. Epic, from a G/W standpoint, may end up in the same worm hole as Man O' War and the Squats, but we will still play it and buy other companies' 6mm models ...

I have seen BFG miniatures, boxed sets, blisters (and even a few games as well) in the three local GW stores to me (and at Merry Hill shopping centre).

:D

of course not a sign of epic... except one sprue of Imperial Guard in the Fanatic Games small (12" x6") display cabinet.

:(

Really? wow.. your area seems to make more of an effort Jimbo, GW Ipswich had a vast range of about 3 different escort packs and a transport blister last time I was in....

Guys if you want to trawl through the archives, you will see that this is the exact situation I spoke of in Australia, except its worse because you cant even mail order it from GW Oz- its gotta come from overseas.

So you shouldnt be too shocked that its happened elsewhere as well. ?I know you all poo-pooed it as a smaller GW offshoot thing, but there you have it- the I told you so without actually saying it. :L

I'm just sorry you guys have to live with this #$%@ed up situation in addition to us antipodeans

Gosh, this is a huge subject, and one I don't really have time to go into right now. I would like to make a few short points though:

1. There's been a lot of loose talk on forums and other places about GW US's policy for selling the specialist games range. The fact of the matter is that the policy has not been decided yet. I'll be visiting GW US again at the start of July for the express purpose of nailing down exactly how the US business will support the specialist games range. I'll let you know more when I do myself, but until they I recommend you beware of gossip not matter how 'reliable' a source ti comes from.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So bottom line, Rumors are just that and should not be trusted...

Oh that would be a good move, not selling E-A in the U.S. and we could only buy E-A stuff on line, like F/W stuff. ???  Although that could work for me, I order F/W all the time on line, however in the overall "E-A Big Picture" (ie. sales/$) ... where should I send the flowers for the funeral ? }:)

Typical....so how many games are they going to release and then pull out from under us? What games do they support? Just 40k and WHFB? That's it, I am putting on my angry eyes.  :p

I must have missed something, did you guys read the message from Jervis? He said the "Gossip" about the games not receiving support from GW-US could not be true because they had not desided yet *how* they would support the specialist games range. Note: he said *how* not *if*.

I know, I was just "overreacting". :p ? After 12 years of Epic, nothing would surprise me. :o ?And making orders on line is not a problem for me. :D ?But when I have it in my "Paws" then I'll know for sure. I'm not a pessimist or an optimist, I'm a realist ...
